-Tennessee fans feel entitled to excellence and think it's obscene if they're not perennially top 10. They melt down when they're mediocre (oh boo hoo us) or try to hire a meathead a former Rutgers coach (well they did get that one right).

-Just another SEC school w/big ambitions, an oversized stadium and idolatrous zealots all over that burnt Orange Rocky Top.

-Tennessee as a team does not scare me the same as Clemson or Notre Dame. I think we play them close. Likely get down early but claw back.

-The problem I see is getting a fair shake down in Atlanta. We've already seen the disrespect that can happen when ACC teams (especially ones from NY) travel down to SEC country.

-I'm hoping that Fran Brown has already changed that dynamic. He's made it clear we are not some punching bag and is very smart with his words when it comes to officiating. Personally I can't stomach any ghost flags on critical plays in the 4th quarter which tends to happen.

-We have two quarterbacks and at least one highly-rated receiver with something to prove. If we can burn someone on a fly pattern in the first series, I can see us winning this game.

-Tennessee is deep on DL but with Pearce Jr moving on their pass rush takes a hit. Their WR room was leaned out a bit with Squirrel White transferring, Bru McCoy retiring as well as Thornton leaving. Nico leaving in exchange for Aguilar is a downgrade IMHO as Aguilar is turnover prone and has struggled in camp throwing INTs.

-Avoid mistakes, and Cuse will have it a 4Q game. The thing is, very very hard to do that with first start QB and game number 1 on the road.

-I don't have that much faith in our defense, to be honest. I think we are going to have to score in the 30s to win, and maybe to even cover.

-Buncha hicks in Knoxville. I took an official visit there as they were recruiting me hard to play golf there. I’ve never heard the word “Yankee” so many times in my life. Cool school and campus sure, but they are kinda like WV people. Very very very strange.

-I'll sign up for 5 TOs! The deranged Vols fan might think those are 5 mistakes. But I'll feel pretty good about our defense if they force UT into 5 killer mistakes.

-If it's treated as a normal cross conference game, the visiting team's conference would supply the refs. See the screwjob in '98.

they talking a lot of smack. but even in that they throw in a lot of qualifiers. only one real break down of the team.
For sure...they were a bottom 3rd defense last year and gave up 6.18 yards per play which is bottom 25ish teams in all of college football and they really didn't add much of note in the transfer portal. I just cannot see them being able to stop our run consistently.

I’m sure the prevailing opinion here is that they sound dumb and couldn’t be more wrong, but they sound exactly like the posters on this board. Enormous victim mentality, still crying about perceived injustice from over 25 years ago, thinks other teams are way overrated but they are secretly incredibly underrated, pointing out everything the other team lost while looking at their own losses as a benefit because guys have “something to prove,” making fun of people based on where they are from.

Don’t really know what to expect being it’s the first game especially from our offense. We will win but this could be a tougher game than many fans are expecting our defense should control their offense. Their fans should be confident they won 10 games last season and have a good coach but i would be shocked if they beat us. Gonna be a long season if we lose.

Odds are they have someone that whines about their own posters on their board just like you. Crying about crying.

These boards are all the same.

They did however lose a 4th round pick Edge (Diggs) and their best IDL (Watson, to Texas) along with numerous other defensive starters.

Vols win by 17-20 points. Cuse had a good team last year, so you can't blame their fans for having expectations that the game could be close. Personally, I believe UT just has too much in the trenches with some pretty good recruiting classes stacked and Syracuse doesn't have that type of talented depth. The game could be up for grabs late if UT has turnover issues though.

Listen here buddy, we melt down when we're excellent, too. Just ask our nega-Vols.

And yes, we feel entitled to excellence. You don't get to be one of the 10 best programs in the nation without a lot of excellent years. We're just trying to get back to them on the regular.

Finally, yep--we did get that one right.

Hehe, an oversized stadium. Guys with little pe--stadiums think guys with bigger stadiums are too big. lol, I get it. Stadium envy. :)
