This has been an easy one to research, for the most part. Oklahoma has several message boards, and they are all very accessible. However, I almost did this in a 2-part segment. Their message boards were spewing with overconfidence about this game before the season started, that's toned down a decent bit after Week 1.

They are still extremely confident, but it seems they realize this won't be the same game as last year. Here's what the Oklahoma faithful are saying regarding Saturday's home opener in Neyland Stadium:

-To start off, this isn't relevant to this game, and not surprising, but man these people hate Texas. There is as much talk about Texas as there is about our game.

-Need someone to forward this to Hurd:

Uhm...Jalen Hurd is sooooooooooo overrated. Dom will be all over his a** the whole game.

-I have seen the term "we will light them up" probably 15 times reading through their threads.

If OU loses the 2nd game of the season (I don't think they will), you can pretty much put a nail in the coffin, even if they were good enough to win the Big 12 and beat TCU/Baylor.

If Tennessee loses, it's par for the course.

-They do have SERIOUS concerns at O-line. As a fan base, this is getting brought up often. Not just pass protection but apparently their run blocking is awful (which explains the terrible ground effort against Akron.)

-Analysis of our BG game:

Tenn skill players are very impressive.
OL has given up pressure on a few plays.
Tennessee pass rush is legit.
Secondary has been letting BGSU WRs run past them on every pass attempt

-The general feeling is that they believe if they stop our run game, and don't let the crowd affect them, this will be an easy win.

-There IS a Baker Mayfield for Heisman Watch after his performance in the Akron game........ so...... ya know..... everyone watch out.

-I've seen this mentioned a few times, they keep saying "We (Oklahoma) have 4 running backs on our squad that will play on Sundays." I think it's fair to assume that's an exaggeration.

-They see the opening line with them favored by 3 as "easy money." Although interestingly enough, on one of their boards they have a thread about the line saying "OU -3" and the thread consists of about 10 posts of them griping about being the underdogs. I don't think they ever figured out that -3 means they opened as 3 point favorites.

-To no one's surprise, they feel the key to this game is to exploit our secondary.

-Ugh..... there is a thread warning Sooner fans who are traveling to make sure to use "gender neutral" pronouns. We deserve that one.

-There is a good bit of discussion about Neyland, but it's a mixed bag. To some, it's going to be an awesome sight to see, and may really affect the team. To others, it's overrated:

I think they over estimate their crowd noise. I've been to that stadium. It starts off loud, but the air gets taken out pretty quick if the other team has momentum. Think aTm when they have big crowds.

-Although they are confident they will win, general score predictions have them winning by 3-7 with it being a somewhat low/mid-scoring affair (mid 20's-ish)

-Our fans are very well received on their boards, as their fans are here.

-They feel the same as we do in regards to perception of their team, in the sense of "We will know everything we need to know about our 2015 squad on the Sunday morning after this game."

-I posted this last year, but I'm sorry it's too good not to post again:

I may be making them sound worse than they are, but this is definitely a 180 degree flip from what I saw from them last year. Last year they seemed to have a great deal of respect for us as a team, this year they seem to think this is a small bump in the road. Let's get loud in Neyland and send them limping back to the Little 12. GBO!!

That's because this year they see us as a threat, not an annoyance and its making them defensive.

Thanks for this as always, chatt.

Every Sooner fan I've talked to who is REASONABLE and a student of the game thinks this is a tough game, less than a TD point difference. But of course, reasonable students of the game don't always frequent message boards...

We'd be super confident too if we thumped them like they did us last year.. Dobbs at QB will make all the difference in the world though, IMO.

Yeah, I found the "Don't sell your tickets to Sooner fans" thread especially heartwarming....some nice ethnic slurs, some distasteful jokes, etc. Your moderator took care of the more egregious examples.

I'm just kidding. Your board is mildly infested with the same type of Cretins the OU boards have. LandThieves can be a little juvenile at times with all those guys talking about each other penis. Their mods aren't as good as Freak.

I lived in okc for a few months. Most of their fans are nice, but they have their ignorant fans too just like us.

Hello VOLS! That was a good write up Chatt, but I haven't seen anyone say the checkered stadium is faggy. There's morons in every fan base. I think it's a compliment to both teams that it is being done. I wish I could make it, but won't be able to. These are the kind of games real fans want to see. It's great when traditional powers play each other from time to time.
I think both teams have a fair amount of unknowns, but OU probably has more. Only an idiot would say OU has 4 rb's who can play on Sundays. They've got 2 studs, past that who knows. I'm looking forward to talking about the game this week. I hope ya'll do great the rest of the year, after Saturday.

Just about to say the same thing. Its easy to be complimentary when you don't see the opponent as a threat. You become alot more defensive when the opponent is worthy.

This is one of my favorite things on Vol Nation. If we had a few more weekly interesting threads I wouldn't have a life.

I think the Sooner boards are solid, but this week they are extra touchy. As another poster said, we are a true threat this year. Last year, they knew they would win, we knew they would win. This year's that's not the case.

It's to be expected game week. Mostly solid, level headed fans. A few that you can't even say anything nice about your team w/o them blowing up.

In other words, about the same as here.

Does Oklahoma and their fans think we've never been at the top before? Lol. Bunch of clueless people.

I live in OK. Bunch of clueless people. And slow drivers. Watch out Knoxvillians this weekend for Oklahoma road hazards.

Beat yes! Thumped, NO!!! If it weren't for that pic 6 that Worley threw, I believe in the late 3rd quarter, it would have been a completely different game! We seemed to be gaining momentum back and appeared to be on a scoring drive and then he throws a pick 6 which completely deflated us and ultimately, ended the game. This year's game should be very very close, as long as we can keep striker out of our backfield!!!

Odd about the respect part. Their team is ranked a lot lower and our boys are ranked.

The hyperbole you read on the OU boards, especially Landthieves, is in noway indicative of how the overall fan base feels about this game. We know this is going to be a very difficult assignment. We are worried about certain weak areas our team showed in week one and we have tremendous respect for the Vols.

Same atacha' SN. Good fans always appreciate polite repartee with their foes on game week, and yours is just fine. I lived in Austin for a dozen years during the Mack Brown era and, being a Tennessee alum taking senseless crap from them, I've gotta say of all the major football fan bases I've been around, those Longhorns have one of the most classless...similar to Floorduh, Bammer and Candybilt. Your fellow fans and ours seem to have a similar assortment of the good, the bad and the ghastly ugly. My recommendations to your buddies who're able to make the trip are to stay off I-40 as much as possible. Knoxville drivers are uber aggressive and tend to drive far too fast and don't use turn signals. Tell 'em to grab some ribs at Calhouns and visit our beautiful Smokey Mountains. Tennessee is one of the country's most scenic states. They'll notice K-town is full of pretty babes of all ages (really!), and it's a far classier place than any other SEC town. I've seen 'em all. Tell them to have fun, be safe and maybe, SN, you can make it to Knoxville some time. UT-42, OU-35. PS: Stoops remarks are the ones that'll make it to the Vols' bulletin board. He's going to realize that UT's fans and noise are light years ahead of FSU's and ND's,and his obvious snubs have been duly noted. :salute:
