This has got to be the worst message board layout in the history of mankind. My 5 yr old daughter could build a better website. Thanks @Freak for actually putting effort into volnation.

Off my soap box now.

Overall, there's not much discussion about the game.
They did post some stats that are interesting.
opponents: 34:58/game

Mizzou's avg. time of possession: 28:25
Opponents: 31:35

Avg. penalty yards per game
Tenn: 74
MU: 42

3rd down completion %
Tenn: 40%
MU: 54%

Heupel's going to run that fast hurry up offense, get as many plays in as possible.

That could work in our favor if we can:
1) Keep their offense off the field
2) Take advantage of their poor 3rd down %
3) Let them beat themselves with penalties
is ranked 45th in total defense and 61st in passing D. Against two good teams (UGA and Florida), one middling team (Bowling Green) and one cupcake (Tenn. Tech). But while BG is 2-2, their offense isn't exactly a juggernaut.
Even though we havent played UGA.

Talking about the weather.
You never know what you're gonna get.

Anyway, if the Vols have any kind of run game, the rain should help. The Tigers' run D is ghastly.

Mizzou 38 Tenn 35
Sidenote. A UGA fan bet 65$ on Mizzou......Lets hope he loses

They are seriously blaming the turf on their terrible run D
Run defense... bring back Omniturf for the rest of the season
Even with Omniturf CU primarily ran the ball all the way down the field with under 2 minutes remaining. You'll probably see several drives like that on Saturday.
TN rushes for 350+ yds and wins 38-21
I don’t know if they’ll rush for 350 yards, but their total yards will be over 600.
Wanna bet?

If they rush for 350+ yards and win 38-21 I will leave forever. No alters. No exceptions.

If they don't rush for 350+ yards AND win 38-21 YOU will leave forever and take your alters with you. No exceptions.

Do you have the stones to back up your constant whining?
Mizzou-UT over 65
UGA -18.5 Ark
App State -10 GA State
OM +14.5 Gumps
Army -7.5 Ball State (Testicle Tech)
UAB -1.5 Liberty
Vandy -14.5 UConn

They think their defense is terrible.....looking up the rushing stats.....giving up 270 rushing yards a game plays in UTs favor.
Bulletin board material “I don’t want to get into it. ... We’re going to have some fun," Volunteers running back Tiyon Evans said Tuesday in Knoxville.

Note to Mizzou defense: They're calling out your manhood.
bulletin board material is only useful if youre capable of doing something about it. There's no evidence to support that as being the case.
This made me laugh
Why does anyone think an SEC football team needs "bulletin board" material to get motivated for ANY game?

Do you honestly think they're saying "Tennessee said bad things about us. Now it's time to start playing hard."?

Overall, Theres a lot more focus on what their D does wrong than the game.

OP - thanks for posting this. I like most everyone else think this is a tossup game. If we can run (which I think we can) then this is a long game for Mizzou. I think our Run D is good enough to get some stops and that will win the game for us. It will be a close game something like 38-35, or 42-38 Vols win (of course).

P.S. - we could have every player hurt down to the 4th string and playing Bama and I would still pick us to win.
P.S.S - I am assuming that Hooker starts. it is a different game if Milton starts.

Honestly no players should need motivation to play in the SEC but when they call your side of the ball out directly they should commit to dying before Tennessee has a big day against them.

That being said it would be so Tennessee now that Evans has said that to fumble 47 times and lose 21-20.

There's not a lot of passion for MU Football right now. I just got two tickets for the game behind the UT bench in the "Donator's section" on row 11... for $50 each. In Dobbs' first start vs MU, I paid over a $100 for a single ticket on the 15 yard line about 50 rows up.

It almost seems as if a lot of them have resigned themselves to what they had before Pinkel.

Just my opinion, but there are a few improvements we have got to make.

1. Our corners are playing entirely to deep on wideouts. We need to come up and get on their inside shoulder and crowd them to the sideline and avoid back shoulder passes.
2. Stunts, stunts and more stunts. When blocking holes develop in the OC line, be right through it. GA has it down pat (still hate their guts)
3. We simply must get containment from the DE's on the corners. We go for too many inside sacks and there are way too many QB rollouts.
4. Our QB needs a quick pass relief valve if regular routes are covered. If OLB covers him run the middle or pass behind him.

LOL... Missourians aren't yankees. Jesse James grew up and carried on the Civil War just west of where I live. Culturally, MO is more "southern" than northern to this day. You wouldn't be able to distinguish the accent of someone from the boot heel area from a person from Arkansas or western TN.

Not to wake up the woke... but a town about an hour from here still has an annual town festival named after the commander of the Confederate raiders who operated in Missouri.

In these days... Midwestern people and especially Missourians are great.

The Chiefs really hurt Mizzou from the fan loyalty perspective.

Yep. My hard-driveless Tandy 1000 in 1984 could have produced a better product.

I know they aren’t. South East Mizz is pretty much like us. I just like making fun of them. I went to Colombia in 13 when they spanked us. Had some good banter with their fans at the tailgates, no real animosity for those people. They weren’t southerners though

I've run across WAY too many people in TN and NC who aren't southerners either... not Midwesterners either. True yankees.

STL is a lot like ATL. They aren't southern or Midwestern cities. Part of the rivalry between KC and STL is that KC is still has a distinctly Midwestern culture. IOW's... people are nice, neighborly, say thank you, open doors, return lost wallets, etc.

Oh I know parts of Farragut and Knoxville have way too many yanks for my liking. NC is a beautiful state but Raleigh and Charlotte seem to be like that too

My home town in western NC is run over with non-natives. Most of us had to leave to have a life and career and were replaced by people who aren't Appalachian.

I'm woke, and like to sorta, somewhat study raider tactics, especially those of James Ewell Brown Stuart (Jeb Stuart). Some of us appreciate history because it's history, and our focus ranges far and wide. I even get a bit of inspiration from Jesse and Frank James, cause I understood what kinda men those pigs called railroad barons were. We still got greedy lying bazzards like them in the business sector to this day. I even got a favorite story about ole Frank, and a doctor encounter on a town street. He was really there to rob the town bank. I used to tell the story to illustrate how a single act of kindness can have a long-range impact on others years after the incident. You might even have heard of the story, it usually goes by the title of "One Good Turn Deserves Another." We woke ain't what you think we are, though there are some exceptions even I don't like.

Now, 'bout the game, I hope we have a pedal to the metal 'tude if for no other reason than to make Kentucky shake in their shoes and soil their drawers. They been talking and acting a bit cocky regarding Tennessee lately. I want to see us put the fear of orange in them, as it should be. It probably won't happen, but I'd be overjoyed to see a 72-to 10 win over the Missouri species of cat, so the blue ones are yowling in pain before we're even due to play them. And cringing at Smokey's howl.

Missouri is always tough and there is always a running back that will surprise us. Not looking forward to this match up.

I actually felt confident about this game. The weather might throw it off though. I hope we can ride out the storm.

Badie is an excellent RB... they have zero depth. Their QB does not run.

This is not like the MU teams of the past. Pinkel had something going. He found a lot of underrated players and "projects" that he turned into good players. Odom couldn't repeat that. Drink is working with what Odom left. They are thin, and bad, on the DL. Someone mentioned their OL being better than UT's... which would matter if true if the two OL's were blocking each other. Both DL v OL match ups favor UT.

If MU wins it will NOT be because they had more talent or whipped UT man on man. It will be like the Pitt game where UT just makes too many mistakes to win.

Somebody culd probably make some good money if they went over there and started a legit Mizzou forum in the same form as VOLnation...Just pretend to be a Mizzou fan and go make some bank...Not sure how many fans will go there tho...They tend to get lost alot.

Agreed. UT has been able to stuff their run game the past 2 seasons and I don’t expect that to change this one especially with the improved DL.
