I don't know. The beat az state but I don't think az state is that good this year either. I think they got a lot of credit for last year in the preseason.

The cowbells will be difficult but cowbells don't shake a stadium like people yelling screaming and stomping does.
The cowbells are just something that can get in your head …. They never had bothered me and I been down Starkville several times

Oh absolutely...as the resident band nerd, I think it's easier to prepare for the volume of cowbells that have zero bass to their sound than it is 102k screaming and stomping lunatics. Their fans will be ready to go. That being said the tickets to this game are cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a lot of fans there.

-The line has opened at TN -10.5. That’s higher than I expected.

-I’m taking UT on the spread. Anything under 14.5 was a gift. Our Bulldogs just aren’t there yet.

-This line will only move towards Tennessee. The betting public and computers both see this as Tennessee dogwalking us. I bet the line closes in 17-20 range. This is another miss by Vegas.

-Limiting possessions is a good idea if you are outgunned. We need to receive the kickoff to try to establish the flow of the game.

-The ideal scenario is to be midway through the second quarter up 14-0 or even 10-0 and having run 30 plays to Tenneseee's 3. That's absolutely something possible in a vacuum. This gets Tennessee on their heels and pressing. Then it's more likely to cause more ****ups and Punts.

-If TN decides they want to just throw the ball instead of running it. That may keep us in the game longer. If they decide to be balanced I doubt we stand a chance of keeping it close. Shapen is a one read Qb. Once they take it away we're screwed. I expect Shapen to be sacked 7 or 8 times because his 1st read is gone and he refuses to throw the ball away.

-McCoy being out helps. But we're outgunned on defense strength / depth. Limiting time helps mitigate that. Escaping the first quarter playing 3 plays on defense would be huge for the second half.

-We're going to need an Arizona State type atmosphere again to have a chance. Wear white and ring responsibly though!

-I think we're in for a shootout.

-If we win we can legitimately start talking about what it takes to get into the CFP. It would be a dramatic turnaround, similar to what Arizona State did a year ago.

-Honestly, this season is already a win and a step in the right direction. We are a few players short of being able to play with Tennessee. Just need to keep competing, win a couple of conference games and keep raising the talent level.

-We need to be excited and amped up for the game while still being grounded to the reality that Tenn is a really, REALLY good team. To be within two scores would be a huge victory.

-We have to find a way not go down 14-0 early if we wanna keep this one close.

-To have any chance against UT, we’re going to have to run the ball effectively. I think it’ll be like a 42-28 final.

-Some of you are giving UT way too much credit. Aguilar really isn’t that good of a QB. We win Saturday.
I think they're realistic. 42-28 sounds about right. I had it down as 80-28 tho.

Pretty good responses. We really can’t start slow . The last thing we need is to give them confidence as the game goes on and for us to feel game pressure late in the game. I’d love to see us start w/ a big play and then lean on the run game. We need to put their QB in a position where he’s the one pressing

"This line will only move towards Tennessee. The betting public and computers both see this as Tennessee dogwalking us. I bet the line closes in 17-20 range. This is another miss by Vegas" Goes to show you what State fans know, the line is now UT-7.5.

Home team typically gets 3 points. The takeaway from that is we are still around a 10 point favorite imo.

Think that score is about right and then LMAO

The game is by no means a slam dunk.

State is headed in the right direction and getting better, but I still think that there is a noticeable talent gap between the teams.

Still got to play well to win this game as they are not going to lay down.

10 Points on a neutral field, yeah; But Starkville is anything but Neutral, with home field rated a 4 point edge. Constant Clanging Cowbells Sounds like Katydids on Steroids.....

This is my favorite one. Nothing like a little delusion, but you can't knock a fan for having blind optimism.
Kind of like the fans on this board who think we’re going to boatrace Georgia, Alabama, and Florida on the road every year?

Sounded pretty reasonable until that last comment lol. I think they may give us trouble on defense for a short stretch but we adjust and take the game over

Miss State is far better than I expected them to be this year, but they still just aren’t that good. We need to play a clean game, but as long as we do that, we roll in this game. They just don’t have the talent or depth to slow us down for 4 quarters.

Agree... and then I keep getting reminders of that one stinker away game every year where we just poop on the field. Time to change that. Joey's leadership on offense gives me hope. Need the same on D for this game.

Not going to lie - this is the first game this year where I'm truly nervous.

I knew Syracuse would be a good test, but never doubted the outcome - Heupel is like forever and 0 in opening games.
Then came ETSU...I took a nap through most of that one.
Georgia had a different kind of nervousness to it...deep down I knew we wouldn't win, but liked our chances more than any year in the past 15.
UAB...again I took a Saturday afternoon nap.

I'm nervous because of the one road game we seem to lay an egg with every year...is it this one or will it be later with Bama or Florida?
I'm nervous because Ms St can throw the ball decently well...if they get the ball first and we go down 7 early, can we trust our Defense to make adjustments?
That said, if we play the way we have early and drop 2 or 3 scores on them before they have a chance to regroup, I think we win this one walking away.

I am always nervous in every game we play but the nervousness either calms or increases based on how we play. I just trust this team right now because of the improvement on the OL and of course monumental upgrade at QB. This team has also shown balance on offense running and passing. I know the UGA game was a loss but we should be confident that the offense can put up a good amount of points on the defenses we play moving forward.

1st road game. Does that enhance the nerves?
