Namely David Sanders for this game. Even though they are FCS, I think he needs a decent amount of live game reps to prepare for Georgia, particularly to gel a little with the starting group IMO.I agree with you BUT you almost need some throw away games to get people healthy and to get some young players experience as well.
This game is for reps and rest, nothing more. The backups get invaluable practice time in a live game @ Neyland environment. For UT it's rest the starters after the first half, and build depth through game experience. Nothing better than live ball practice with the outcome a foregone conclusion.I hate playing FCS teams, just don't see any value in it. Certainly doesn't prepare you for SEC play.
Before someone says it, no, I don't care if help pay for their program.
While I agree with not playing “tune-up” games against lower division schools anymore, I am fine with playing an in-state FCS school every couple of years. Some of those kids are from Tennessee. Let them come see what it feels like to play in one of…if not THE…greatest CFB stadiums in the world.
