They have a decent team, but anyone that could watch that game and think Tennessee was better than Pitt, or vice versa is fooling themselves. We are both decent teams, not great
Especially Slovis. Guess they think he just took himself off the field. That man wasn't making it through a full game taking the hits he took. Hell Patti damn near didnt make it through the half.Slovis nor Patti want to see that defense anymore........
Tennessee might be the best team Pitt plays this year....Pitt isnt close to the best team Tennessee will play
Eat it Pitt
Their D played well. UT's D played well. Neither O was great. They won the ST's battle.
.... and yet UT found a way to win. That's what good teams do. It is one of the dividing points between a well-coached, well-led team and one that is not.
That's the most aggressive I've seen UT play in the front 7 in a very long time. Not sure about the whole D but I have high hopes that was a breakthrough game for Baron. Not big stats but he pushed the pocket.Especially Slovis. Guess they think he just took himself off the field. That man wasn't making it through a full game taking the hits he took. This is the type of game we have spent years finding ways to lose. It's incredibly encouraging to see us find a way to win a matchup like this, on the road, against a top 25 team. I'm hoping this win will be looked back upon as a turning point for us. Clean up some of the miscues and sloppy play and we can absolutely get to 10 wins.
It’s not like Slovis just opted out of playing the second half…he took a beating in the first half because that weak Tennessee defense beat the great Pitt OL on just about every play. Instead of Pitt fans saying “if Slovis had played the whole game” they should be saying “if we could block at least as well as a Sunbelt team“
I think you are being overly dramatic ... Pitt will either play their 3rd string QB or 2nd string QB with a bum ankle (depending on the severity of his ankle injury) and they will still beat Western Michigan. [Western Michigan beat Ball State 37-30 this past weekend] Look for Pitt to dominate them like Vols did.If we don't muff that punt, Tenn wins by 17. All the Mo and would have scored every possession after that. HOOKER plays like he is supposed to in the First two series, it ain't even close. Tennessee's DEFENSE Manhandled Pitt. You saw their QB didn't return for the second Half. Their RB had one good one, then Tenn shut that down. Pitt played their best, Tennessee not even close; and still won. THAT is a fair assessment. WATCH Pitt LOSE @ Wmich this week!!!
PITT postgame comes from panther-lair
-I was not impressed after all that bark from Tennessee. They might win the Sunbelt, I guess...
-Wasn't impressed with Hooker.
Delusional post. Congratulations on the win but Pitt could have very easily won the game Saturday. Left 20 points on the field and played most of second half with a backup QB on one leg.Tennessee got screwed in the Pitt game last year. It should have been back to back wins. Pitt is not as good as Tennessee. Had Hooker started last years game the game would have been a blow out win for the Vols.
In 2021 we literally turned it over on downs in the red zone with like 4 minutes left. Got a stop, then were driving until the game ending interception. Tennessee had every chance to win that one in the fourth quarter alone without bringing up our stupidity in the second and third and how we squandered points there.Delusional post. Agree with this assessment. My delusional post comment was in response to poster who commented that Tennessee should have blown Pitt out last year. I think the separation between these two teams is minimal. Enjoyed both games and will be coming down to Knoxville 10/15 and rooting for the Vols to beat Alabama. We always take a road-trip during Pitt’s bye week and enjoyed Knoxville so much last year that we are coming down again in a few weeks. Good luck the rest of the season. In 2021 we literally turned it over on downs in the red zone with like 4 minutes left. Got a stop, then were driving until the game ending interception. This year one could argue tennessee left 20 points on the field too. Too many dropped balls and miscues that bit us. So Pitt left 20, we left 20. We still win.
Difference in 2021: Kenny Pickett
Difference in 2022: UT's DL living in your backfield
Spot on. In all honesty the Pitt fans I was around were good natured and classy. You know that had to hurt. They were gracious and complimentary. I don't expect that in Athens in a couple of months.
