what next gen console are you getting and why

My 50 inch Plasma is in an alcove above my fireplace with a Direct TV Genie box, 2 speakers, an AppleTV, an Airport Extreme, and currently a PS3. So to say people are just finding something to complain about is stupid. Everything from how they sit to their size is important to anyone who is not going to put it in their bedroom.

Then move the airport or something. I can agree with you when you want it to look good etc and fit but to not buy it is ridiculous.

Why is it ridiculous? In a market with options anyone has the luxury to choose which system they want based on anything. If it won't look good where it needs to be placed, that's a reason not to buy it. It's a more adult reason to choose a system, I'd say.

But with the PS4 I don't have to move a thing but my PS3 upstairs. So no biggie. My point was if I went with the XBox One plus Kinetic there is no way I would of had enough room.

The question I have with MS' model is...why didn't they just jettison disc-based games altogether? Wouldn't that make more sense? MS would have actually come out better if they had just 86ed disc-games completely and made it an online-only system. That's clearly what they want. Instead, they allowed for disc-games, but have made the experience so unpleasant that it begs the question "why bother?" If a game comes out on the Xbone, and is available in both formats, why would you ever buy the disc? What sense would be in that? It's almost like they tried to please everybody but instead they've pissed off an confused everybody.

I wonder what the reaction would be from their retail partners like GameStop if they went to digital only? Would they even bother selling it? I would not be surprised if a lot of managers at GameStop are less than enthused about pushing the XBONE as is, since it looks to diminish their business.

I agree. My point with the disks is that, assuming most all games are going to be available both digitally and in disk format, why on earth would anyone bother buying the disk when they're being forced to fully install the game anyway? Downloading it digitally accomplishes the exact same thing.

Oh and speaking of full game installs, who the HELL designs a system where you're required to fully install each and every game, and then NOT give you the option to upgrade your hard drive??

DURRRRRR!!!!

Maybe they are anticipating the cloud? Or they just expect you to delete old games.

Just preordered my ps4 cod bundle

Preorder my bundle too, just did the Killzone4 because I didn't see Second son on there. But two controllers ill be satisfied. Considering the new screen on them they have to be expensive. I mean I haven't seen a price but you'd think they would be atleast 20-25 more than the PS3 dual shock which are 55

According to Amazon, PS4 pre-orders outnumber Xbox One 10-1(no surprise really). I wonder how long till M$ changes their stance?

I'm going to stick this here:

If you're a Best Buy Reward Zone member, you can get a one year playstation network plus card for 10 bucks off. ($49.99 to $39.99). You can make a RZ account in the link if you want it. Figured it was something most would buy anyway, so might as well save 10 bucks.
:hi:

PlayStation_Plus_Offer_108090 - Best Buy

EDIT: I think you have to add it to cart to see the 10 off (or maybe just sign in).
Also, I tried multiples, but it would only let me get one at the discounted price

Too late for all that; they've already crapped the bed. Now they get to sleep in it :flush:

They can't! They've already designed the system where it requires an internet connection and full game installs. They HAVE to enforce their pre owned restrictions because if they don't, it's going to be a complete **** storm of gamers installing game after game and then selling/trading them in which publishers would be irate over.

Like I said earlier, I don't see why MS didn't just make their system to be 100% digital from the get go. It would have made more sense given the policies they're wanting to enforce.

The way that MS was routed at E3, it seems like they had planted someone in Sony's hieracrchy that became a double agent. It was an absolute ass kicking.

Sure they can, and they will if pre-orders reflect actual sales numbers. They'll have to or else risk going under. I would be surprised if a 10:1 ratio (I predicted a 5:1 ratio however) held up for actual sales. Then again with Sony having a cheaper, more powerful, and restriction free system, makes it's a given it will sell better (especially outside the US). I just hope new-gen football games are good and not go through the transition like they did from last-gen to current-gen. They're the only games I never get bored of, well that and MLB The Show, but I know it's going to continue it's superiority.

You talking about Microsoft there?? No way. they might lose a lot of money (or potential money from people going to the PS4), but I'm pretty sure they have tons in reserves. Plus they still got that whole Windows thing and now coming back a little more in mobile OS prevalence

EDIT: unless you mean just the gaming (xbox) division of Microsoft. but even then, the company as a whole would bite the bullet just to keep in the gaming market and not let Sony dominate it.

Of course I'm talking about the Xbox, lol. If Sony outsold this gen 10:1 for too long, Microsoft would restructure the Xbox to try to bring back in the consumers. I seriously doubt they would bite a bullet that will be worth in the 10s of billions. They're not going to shrug their shoulders and say "we'll get 'em next time". This is all theoretical of course, if the Xbox has decent sales numbers this is a moot discussion.

But here's the problem with what you're saying. MS specifically designed their hardware to require full game installs on each and every game before you can even play them! They cannot change that at this point! System is done and in production! If they were to suddenly lift the pre-owned restrictions on their games you will have every joe shmoe lining up to rent Xbox One games, taking them home, and fully installing them on their system. They will also be buying games, taking them home and installing them, probably giving them to their buddies to install them, and then trading them back in for pre owned credit. Don't you see the complete "feeding frenzy" that would cause? This would in turn lead to ROYALLY pissing off publishers and frankly MS cannot afford to lose 3rd party support! Their in house gaming divisions suck out loud for the most part (except 393 and Turn 10) so they rely more on multi console developers than Sony does.

I'm telling you, MS already knows they're going to lose the battle in terms of actual units sold. They'll make their money elsewhere through subscriptions. You may not agree with that strategy, but that's the decision they've made, and to be honest, there's a reason why they're an actual multi-billion dollar company and you're at home doling out your "armchair CEO" advice. It really seems like MS is busy trying to pave the way of the future while Sony is going with what's more or less worked for years. It may backfire, but to act like the Xbox is actually going to go bankrupt over this is absurd. They may well not make as much money as Sony this generation, and eventually backtrack, but they're going to make money, and lots of it.

I understand what you are saying, and they can change it. There is not a piece of hardware in the system making it install only, it's software programming and that can be changed at anytime via update. 360 games can be stored on the HDD now but you have to have the disc inserted to play them. They could just implement that back into it.

I did find one really cool feature for Xbox One. You can set-up a group of 10 friends to have access to your game library at anytime from their console. Only 1 can play at any given time unless it's you, which then you can play co-op/multiplayer with any of the 10. They don't even have to own the game.

Whoa there chief, what's with the personal attack? Some people take this too seriously. I said it's theoretical, unless you can't comprehend. I just have to laugh at people like you. Haha.

Do they? So you're telling me if PS4 sold 50 million to Xbox 5 mil they wouldn't take a look at shutting down the Xbox division? There's no money to be made there.

No personal attack. I'd say I'm in the same boat. MS has proven through the years that they know how to earn money by the boatload. I know for a fact me, and most likely you don't have the same credentials, so to try and second guess their strategy and in many peoples case simply call it flat out wrong, seems misguided to me. Like you said though, if they're getting crushed to the point of actually losing money (a scenario which I can't even see how it would be possible because of the profit from XBL subscriptions) then they're nothing more than a simple software patch away from righting a lot of what led to this. I doubt there is anything that can happen in this one generation that would flat out shut the entire division down. PS3 was a disaster at launch, and they've recovered from it.
