I think we should win two of those games, and Bama should be interesting. But let me get this straight. Our defense has both starting cornerbacks out, our best if not second best and experienced DL is out, and we were starting a true freshman at corner, and you think Banks should be on the hot seat?I say win 2 of 3 against flordia, bama and Oklahoma. Otherwise he's showing regression. Tim Banks needs to be on the hot seat.
Banks didn't see in overtime the overloaded set they had at the 25 that screamed run? Inexcusable should have called timeout then.I think we should win two of those games, and Bama should be interesting. But let me get this straight. Sometimes, all the adjustments in the world don't help. If the players you have can't execute the adjustments, the schemes are useless.Ole Miss ran the same QB draw in 21 over and over and over and he couldn’t adjust to it
South Carolina in 22
Missouri in 23
Georgia each of the last 2 years. Last year their TEs attacked our defense in the same spot over and over and over and we had no answer for it
Not only does he not adjust well in games, but he seemingly doesn’t even try to adjust
I agree 100% that it can be very tough on the defense when y’all’s up tempo offense is really clicking. I especially noticed this back when you guys had such an explosive offense with Hendon Hooker and with JA it looks very similar so far I think. The stats show Bank’s has improved each season. Not many DC’s want to be paired with our up tempo offense.
I don’t disagree with the first part. I’ve never really been too high on Banks though to be honest. I’ll give him his credit where it’s due, he can dial up some pretty nice blitzes. I just don’t think he does a very good job at adjusting in game, and I don’t think he does a very good job at mixing up coverages. Maybe our defensive staff will do this off-season what the offensive staff did this past year and reevaluate their approach. Some changes definitely need to happen thoughSometimes, all the adjustments in the world don't help. If the players you have can't execute the adjustments, the schemes are useless.
A couple of weeks ago, I saw a post, with a lot of "Amens" touting Banks as the D Coach of the year.
Re: Banks, this: "Banks is missing two starting DL and his starting corners. I mean you have key players out at worst two areas possible going in to playing a GA?" Add McCoy. If one of those linemen and one of the corners play uninjured, we probably win by 10 or more.Amazing, you rebuild an OL that can rival 2022...maybe be even better and score a ton of points. Who knew. The OL the last two years has not lacked in effort, but they just were not that talented as a group when it comes to playing actual teams you need to beat. The offense on Saturday put up way more points than you'd need in a game to win. Didn't work out. Can't say it was much GA did, it was a lot of what TN didn't do. Plus, Banks is missing two starting DL and his starting corners. I mean you have key players out at worst two areas possible going in to playing a GA? Not meant as an excuse, but it also isn't ideal. Heck on could argue it might have made little difference. TN just needs to take care of it's own business, realizing that at this level the small things absolutely matter. They didn't get those done.
The problem that’s occurring is that the 2 positions that were our strongest on D, D-Line and in the secondary, have had the most attrition. You guys took advantage of that on Saturday. First play of the game you go right at the true freshman corner and you went after him all day. The first drive of the second half you had 14 play drive and ran it 13 times. That was a clinic of a drive. Now we didn’t help ourselves bc our second quarter drive chart was atrocious and we were gassed. I’d like to think that if we have even only one of Gibson or McCoy out there at corner and 2 of our Dtackles back in the rotation that influences Bobo’s game plan and also influences how much zone or cover 0 we played. Kudos to Stockton on that 4th down throw. That was a helluva playI agree 100% that it can be very tough on the defense when y’all’s up tempo offense is really clicking. When that fast paced offense comes out it can be extremely effective and have the opposing defense on it’s heels, but it can make drives and possessions so quick and take so little time off the game clock that it can really wear out the defense bc they often have little time to rest between possessions, and they can find themselves on the field often and for a majority of the game.
Don’t misunderstand, it’s great when that offense is putting up big numbers very quickly, but it does put a whole lot of pressure and strain on the defense, and could make it much tougher for even the best of defenses.
This year was always supposed to be a year of regression, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. I was figuring 8-4 to be a pretty decent season before it started with a 9-3 ceiling. I'm not sure next year, our Defense should be better again next year, but we'll have a new QB again. Hopefully theyre getting GMAC ready to go or Faizon is just him and plays immediately. I was figuring 2027 season as our next real shot at it, and from there hopefully we're built up enough that we can just reload instead of having a rebuilding year. I swear some of you have forgotten the shambles that this roster was in when Huepel took over in 2021, not to mention the sanctions. 8-4 has been a good year for us for quite a while, currently im satisfied with that being the down year/rebuild year.I say win 2 of 3 against flordia, bama and Oklahoma. Otherwise he's showing regression. Tim Banks needs to be on the hot seat.
He is NOT a great DC. He lives off the success of Rodney Gardner. Mike BoBo has coached circles around him for 3 years straight now.Tim Banks does not need to be on the hot seat. That's crazy. We lost a game we should have won. If there's one main take-away- we still need to be more physical. GA was able to impose their will when they absolutely needed to.
