1. The fact you dislike our coach? No it just means you form your own opinion. It means you feel we could do better!
2. You feel like we will lose an important game (like Fla.) No it just means you feel we will be out played a team with more talent and speed ect......

What makes a bad fan is a person who does not watch games. Does not get chills when the Vols take the field.
Does not stick with one team.

What do you feel makes a bad fan?

Fans with an agenda. Those who cheer for something bad to happen in order to achieve whatever they believe to be "the solution".

I think the coaching on the offensive line is horrendous, but I refuse to hope for a pathetic performance in order to get a new position coach or a new approach. I'm not going to hope that Coker fumbles so that Foster gets carries (or vice versa), or the defense to look like garbage to get a new defensive coordinator.

In the NFL it's another story. Once you're out of the playoff race, root for that first overall pick!

with the rest of the country trying to talk smack about the SEC, and UT not having much success vs. UF recently, i have really come to the point where i dont even hate UF anymore, and i actually root for them when theyre not playing UT or if we need them to lose another SEC game to be back in contention for the SECCG... and also i dont believe we will be able to keep up with UF until Phil opens up or we get a new coach, whichever one comes first.... so the point is i guess this makes me a bad UT fan since i actually like UF when they dont play UT and i dont believe we can beat them anymore

I'm curious -- why is there a difference? In both cases, you're ostensibly rooting against your own team in the short term under the belief that it will make them better in the long-term. What makes it acceptable when following a pro team?

(I just can't do it. I know a bunch of guys who will openly root for their team to lose in the hopes of a draft pick, but I can't bring myself to do it. Your team is your team.)

Doubting your team is fine . . . It's when people allow chance of winning to dictate how big a fan they are that it becomes annoying.

a bad Tennessee fan is one that is ok with looking up at Florida, LSU, UGA, Bama, etc.

I believe there are UT "fans" who secretly root for the Vols to lose because of an agenda.

And anyone who truly believes ESPN is out to get the Vols.

I think fans make the 12th man. That means being a 12th player. I doubt many players sit around b****ing about Fulmer, think they're not good enough to beat Florida, or ever pull for Florida unless it's in their best interest. I see way to many Vol fans that seem to be in love with Florida on this board, not to mention Meyer. I think it's the typical bandwagon tendencies invading the subconscious. The only reason I hope a team wins is so they will be higher ranked when UT spanks em! Snap out of Vol fans!

In the NFL, poor team performance is rewarded with a higher draft pick and therefore (usually) a higher-caliber player in every round.

In college, poor team performance usually results in turmoil, which turns away top-level recruits. One underachieving year can be an enormous setback in the grand scheme of things.

If the NFL teams had no draft and needed to recruit everyone coming out of college, would anyone go to Oakland or Detroit? By the same token, since there is no draft for college teams, no top-level guys go to Temple or Directional Michigan.

Any guy that mocks Tebow but secretly loves him. That is a bad Tenn fan.

i was walking with this beautiful girl from class today and she told me that she was from knoxville but likes the gators because she thought Tebow was hot... that immediately switched my train of thought from "im gonna get her number in about a minute and thirty seconds" to "i cant believe i even signed up for a class with this piece of snit"... does that make me a good fan?

Yes, you were repelled by her stupidity. But did you get her number? You can overlook the stupidity if she is hot.

:)
