Just another one of those off season threads. I want to hear everybody's story. I really wanna hear most of the fans out of state. I became a Vol fan out of pure tradition. My whole family are Vol fans so that is why I was swayed.

When I was born my whole room was painted orange and white. Loved them my whole life.

Because I believe in truth, justice, and the American way.

Seriously though, I visited the school, fell in love with the place, and the rest is, well, history.

Both my parents are from Knoxville area and went to UT. My dad was in the military though so we lived all over the whole time I was growing up. Was raised to be a UT fan and was always the random kid wearing orange to school everyday no matter where we lived.

Made it to my first game when I was a sophomore in high school, and eventually winded up going to and graduating from UT.

I was born into it. My wife was born into it. We are both Alumni. My parents and her parents are Alumni. My sister is an Alumni. I now live in Huntsville, AL. I am alumni board member here in Huntsville, and I go to every home game possible and have been a season ticket holder ever since graduation in '05. Oh and my daughter that is due on August 30... my wife has all the colors and paints in her nursery orange and white and some pink, and has 4 Vol outfits waiting for her when she's out and about! So you might say I'm a VFL, and VFL Family!

Admittedly I was living in Alabama and a Tide fan in my youth. My dad bought a farm in TN and retired. I fell in love with the state. While watching the Vols with my new friends i realized i had been blind and naive in my younger days and swore allegiance to the Orange.

I was raised to recognize greatness. I went to games as a child with my grandfather. He graduated from Clemson when it was a 2 year school, went off to WWI and then went to UT to finish a 4 year degree. I guess he wanted to use his orange/white! He stayed in Knoxville and the rest is history...

my grandad was one of the biggest vols fans ive ever seen. always sporting orange wherever he went. he would take me on road trips to games when i was younger and he would keep it old school and listen to john ward on the headphones while watchin the game. he took me to get schuler and peytons autographs and i was hooked. my cousin and I would wear the peewee UT unis in the front yard on saturdays before the game and the rest was history.

Only had 2 channels on TV growing up (early to mid 60's). On Saturdays we watched whatever football game that was on. Usually Notre Dame or Michigan (ugg), but occasionally we would get the Vols and my father would always root for them. Don't know why (from North Dakota), but he is still a UT fan (in his 90's) and still in North Dakota). Out of respect for my father, I rooted for his team - the VOLS - and now root for my team - the VOLS. I was shocked the first time I saw the Vols on color tv,,,always thought the end zone was a black & white checkerboard.

1997 Arkansas game. I was raised outside of TN but my father was a huge fan being that he graduated from there. We always watched the games together. That was my first favorite moment next was the BCS National Championship game. Vol for life after that!:loco:

Born in Knoxville @ Fort Sanders. Parents moved us to GA when I was 13. I love going back every time I get a chance. Got season tickets this year and super stoked. The short of it......it's in my blood...I bleed orange. GBO

Growing up I was a big baseball fan although i followed football from a distance. The 1st season of Vol football that I actually watched every game was the 1998 season. There is little explanation left to explain why Ive been hooked ever since.

Grew up with my dad as a Notre Dame fan. Luckily my uncle bleeds orange, and took me to see Peyton play. He went the whole nine, we stayed at the Hyatt to watch the pep rally and he bought a #16 jersey for me. I'll always be greatful to him for showing me life is orange & white.
