What Led to Vols Loss to Mercer Last Year?

The season was already a wash when we were left out of the NCAAs. Making a run in the NIT would not have gained anything besides the possibility of injuries IMO.

Again, I would have rather gotten the W, but this a rare exception where I'll let the lack of heart and effort slide. JMO. If we keep winning now, no one is going to care about the NIT appearances.

IMO there is never an excuse for not showing up ready to play.

Well, I believe there was for that NIT Mercer game. I don't blame you if you have a problem with it, but I'm not losing sleep or hopping on the Fire Martin bandwagon because of it.

Of course not, it seems you're related to the guy.

Supporting the head coach is fine, but there's no excuse for not being prepared. Regardless of the situation or opponent.

our pg last year had 20 pts, took 14 shots, had 0 assists and mcrae had a bad game with some forced shots. Neither one played D.

Trae and Mcrae 27 pts, 4 assists, 5 turnovers
Mercer guards: 41 pts, 8 assts, 3 turnovers

This I do not agree with..

The team and coaching staff representing the University of Tennessee should give their all in each and every game. Cuonzo's actions leading up to the NIT game and then not bringing his team ready to play cost him a lot of support from fans.

Ridiculous.

B.S.>> You should play hard even if its a back yard/sandlot game. Those who don't are just quitters. No excuses.

Then our fans are quitters since many didn't show up for the game last year.

You guys can't have this crap both ways.

Then why play the game?

My guess the school/conference gets some kind of money for it, but that's about it. Hardly any bubble team that got left out does well in the NIT, and whoever wins it hardly has much effect on their program.

Are you being serious?

Completely.

You keep chastising Martin and the Vols for not showing up to a game that means nothing, yet they're supposed to give 100% when most of the fans don't come?

Is there something you don't understand about this?

Hey, it's the fans' job to completely abandon the team when they're losing. That's what being a fan is all about.

Ridiculous.

I can guarantee you his whining in public because UT did not make the dance then not having his team prepared to play in the NIT cost Cuonzo support. If he worked for me I would have fired him immediately after the game. His actions were ridiculous.

Let's put this another way. The 2011 Vols who lost by 30 to Michigan in their first game >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NIT Champion that year.
