What kind of defense will Monte Kiffin use against Florida's spread option?

You think he has a new defensive scheme against Florida's spread option?
He hasn't coached against an option in a long time but he did play for Nebraska, who ran it better then anybody.

I swear everyone on this board must be an English major. Spelling mistakes are always made such a big deal out of.

I think we see the Tampa 2...schemewise it stacks up nice against the spread. Monte is going to have to make more radical changes against Bama with a power game.

certainly. Sure he's had this game circled since Lane was hired. So hopefully he has something in store for them. Personally i think some kind of nickel package would work best. a dime package or a 3-3-5 would leave us too susceptible to the run

Amen. The spelling and grammar police are irritating to no end. It's a message board, they need to get over themselves.

I think we will see a lot of man to man coverage in the secondary.

He's been using EB up on the line as a rover for run support a lot. I bet he uses EB differently this game. However, I'm not sure if he will drop EB back for over the top coverage or spying the perimeter as UCLA was able to get the corner on us some. If UCLA could get the corner, Demps and Rainey surely will unless we make some adjustments.

I know what defense Florida will use though! Stack the line, fill the gaps, stop the run and make crompton throw the ball

Of all the things that I'm worried about for Saturday, Monte isn't one of them. I think his gameplan will be fine. Now, what he can't control is how much time his D has to spend on the field. This will be the problem for him. That D will be ready, but after they spend most of the game on the field there won't be much that Monte can do.

I predict Coach M. Kiffin will go with eleven guys against the powerful Florida offence.

No, english majors don't make money. I just thought a prerequisite to being a guru might be knowing how to spell the name of one of the best defensive minds in football history, who happens to be your d-coordinator.

...and it will be a mean defense

I've been waiting for a good DC to come up with a good scheme to dismantle the vaulted Florida spread option. I hope he's got something more planned.

He'll have Tebow wondering if he should poop or shine his shoes.

Knocking Tebow out of the game has been on a few people's mind for sure, hasn't really happened though.

I think Jon Gruden said last year that there is no way the Tampa 2 can defend the spread. I suspect Monte to go with a lot of nickel and to avoid making a LB have to cover a WR or Aaron Hernandez. I also suspect him use a lot of creative blitzes and fakes to try to confuse the O line on who's rushing and who's dropping back.
