What I've learned from the SEC today

Good analysis - i agree that we have a real shot at beating every team other than LSU and bama - not that we can't beat those two but they certainly look to be in a different class than the rest of the SEC with the exception of possibly florida

scar has looked really bad and might be the worst top 10 SEC team ive ever seen

I think the games against USC and UGA could come down to special teams. We have to dominate special teams in our home games, much like UF dominated us. It's not just making field goals, it's field position. If we get the ball first we should go on offense and if we don't score pin them back their first drive and make them go 80-90 yards. WE HAVE TO BE MORE AGGRESSIVE, much like UF was when they elected to get the ball first and shove it down our throats on the first drive.

Lane Kiffin was very aggressive against USCe and UGA last time they came to Neyland and we blew them out of the stadium, a lot like Dooley was last year against Ole Miss. We have killed the past couple of mid-level teams that have come to Neyland (Arkansas, UGA, USCe, Cincy).

I think we will find out who the real Arkansas is next weekend. Bama is a very tough place to play and they were looking to make a major statement. Arkansas plays A&M in Dallas and I have a feeling they are going to lose that as well. If they played fired up and win, they may play a lot better the latter part of the season because if I am not mistaken a lot of their big games are at home (Auburn, South Carolina and Tennessee). Not sure where they play LSU, think it's in BR.

I think you were too kind to UGA. They scored only 3pts in the 2nd half yesterday vs. a terrible Ole Miss team. UGA is bad.

Kentucky is not a very good team. In fact, they are probably the worst team in the league. I do not read too much into the Fla-Ky game.

We learn a lot about the East on Saturday with
S. Car v. Auburn
Bamer v. Florida, and
UGA v. Miss. St.

So far, I think the East has gone as most have predicted - with South carolina being on top, but not very far behind is Florida and Georgia.
Although I will not argue with anyone who says Florida is on top right now.

I realized that we can beat UGA,Usc jr. and Ark. But the Lsu defence imo will be to much for us but i think we will lose to Bama and Lsu and get an upset against Usc jr. and Arkansas so 9-3 book it!!! BY THE WAY wasnt that USC vs ASU game so great hahahah oh Kiffen!

Glad most of you agree...It was a pain posting this via my phone last night, but I had to do it.

Bama will roll Florida like a wagon wheel.

McCarron will crap himself in the swamp, and Fl has the front 7 to slow down Richardson...It will be a must see game. I just don't like the idea of pulling for bammer.

I agree. I see 7-5 or 6-6 staring us straight in the face again. I'd take 7-5 with this schedule, it's just brutal.

Brutal?

Wins against Montana, Buffalo, MTSU, Vandy, Kentucky and Cinncinati hardly give us bragging rights against a brutal schedule.

i wonder if tennessee played alabama this weekend and arkansas was on a bye what arkansas fans would think about their chances of beating tennessee.

people on the board should wait for tennessee to actually beat somebody before throwing 9-3 possibilities out there.

Why?

LSU is scary. Claibourne and Matthieu would probably be the only corners in the nation who could shut down Rogers and a healthy Hunter.

You left out all the good teams they're going to play and that's what i'm referring too. The stretch in October doesn't get any harder.

Yep, October is brutal.

For me to consider this year an improvement, we have to win one of those games.

I'm not pulling for Bama.

But they will win by three scores.

Things will change. They always do over the course of a college football season.

Miniscule things will change, but things like Alabama's play won't. Bama is for real, just like they have been since Saban's 2nd year. LSU won't get bad suddenly, either.

Ole Miss: Ole Miss is just downright sad to watch. They made Vandy look a championship team last week and made UGA (specifically A. Murray) look incredible at QB. I never thought I'd see a Houston Nutt team this bad.
Really? Why? Nutt is Fulmer... without class, intelligence, and coaching ability. I told people when he took the job that he was a horrible coach who would fail at Ole Miss.

The greatest "distinctive" of a Nutt coached team is a lack of discipline... they have not disappointed.

Arkansas: Arky will struggle throughout the rest of the year and I think UT has a legitimate shot at beating them. IMO Wilson was overrated to start off this season and losing Knile Davis certaintly didn't help.
I said that before the season and that Bray was better than Wilson. Some here mocked me for it.

Wilson is a "good" QB... I do not believe he has the talent to be "great".

Auburn: I don't think Auburns that bad, really. I was shocked to see them lose to Clemson but as we saw tonight Clemson is pretty damn good. Auburn is young like we are and will probably finish with 6 wins.
Auburn IS that bad and it isn't just youth. Malzahn needs to bail while his stock is still high. Chizik was not an effective coach at Iowa St. He was carried by a freak player last year and Malzahn. They should have lost to both MSU and Utah St to go with a pathetic showing vs La Tech.

Kentucky: is just plain bad, bad, bad. I thought Morgan Newton would be ok as a QB but I guess not. I feel bad for Tee Martin though and doubt the wildcats will win 4 games this year.
They are bad. Go figure... a Randy Sanders coached offense has no discipline and plays below their potential.

Georgia: Aaron Murrays a good QB but he doesn't have anyone around him. I knew Georgia would struggle this year and despite their route of Ole Miss today I still think Richt will be gone at seasons end.
I think his West schedule will salvage his job. UF stumbles somewhere in the East and it could be UGA. I would not be in the least surprised to see them lose only one more game and represent the East in the CG... and get absolutely pummelled.

Florida: after watching them demolish kentucky in lexington tonight I feel better about our 10 point loss last week. Florida has exceeded my expectations and i look forward to watching them play Scar.
Having taken time to really think past my initial reaction... I honestly believe that UT walks out of G'ville with a win if Hunter doesn't get injured. Their secondary and passing game are going to lose games for them.

South Carolina: South Carolina would be great if they had someone like Aaron Murray as their QB. Garcia is a joke imo. Lattimore and Jeffrey are two great players and the rest of the team is solid. Depending on how the Qb situation turns out they could finally get a 10 win season.
Jeffrey suffers from what I fear for D Rogers going forward. Teams can focus on stopping him because no one else scares them. Their OL also stinks out loud.

Lattimore is outstanding but as he gets beat up... I think they'll fade some. I could see them losing to UT, UF, MSU, and Ark. As you mentioned, Garcia is erratic at best and will lose games for them. The other guy must not have it or SS would have given the hook.

These are my thoughts guys. Hope yall aren't too harsh if you disagree. I feel Tennessee has a legitimate shot at beating UGA, ArK, and Scar. While undoubtably beating Buffalo, Vandy, Uk, and MTSU. I expect at least a 7-5 season but would not be shocked if we finish as high as 9-3. Have a great week and GO VOLS

Agree with the final assessment with one caveat... ad nauseum... UT MUST find a running game to open things up for Bray.

Les Miles and John Chavis mean that they have a chance to lose any game regardless of how much of a talent advantage they have.

Bama's O didn't look great for much of the Ark game. They got big help from the D and ST's that put them in a good position for their O. Their D however is pretty stout.

... and one middle school built for those make a wish foundation kids wanting to be part of something special.

No idea what this was supposed to mean, I guess an attempt at humor? I had one of those "make a wish kids wanting to be part of something special" and I can only hope, for multiple reasons, that never happens to you. Might want to find a different punch line.

Florida will still go 9-3 or 8-4. it's going to be another down year, but as mentioned by others, we have a new system, new staff, and it takes a year or two to turn the corner to be competitive again with the elite teams. I think we are moving in the right direction, and even Muschamp said his goal is to right the ship and work hard towards that goal.

Give me a 2-2 October and I will take it. We don't have the horses to match Alabama or LSU right now. We might down the road, but right now those two teams are superior to Florida.
