What is your gameday like?

Going to the game: take the boat to the launch pile in the Sea Ray and proceed to make my contribution to the Vol Navy. Tie up and partake with the many other loyal Vol fans on the water, usually fry a turkey with sides. Plenty of libations to keep your head right for Neyland. Started going to the games by water and there is no comparison.

Staying home: Do chores early, kids, yardwork, whatever, go for a swim and put on some UT garb. Head over to my buddies house and start a boston butt smokin' and proceed to argue about how bad Bama is going to get beat. Talk about how good Auburn is playing and how short Saban is. Naturally I am in the minority so I try to get all of my Bama buddies as full and drunk as possible (tends to slow them down but they are getting wise to my efforts). Blue Cheese Angus Sirloin Burgers or Quail wrapped in Wrights thick cut bacon stuffed with cream cheese and japs with some Conecuh Sausage are favorites my buddies like for me to cook along with a large helping of JD and Makers. Cedar Plank Scottish Salmon with a terriyaki/wasabi glaze for the wives to stay in good graces. Being a UT alum in Bama an individual has to have an edge to stay friends with folks and rib them hard, cooking is mine.

If I'm in knoxville, wake up eat the breakfast of champions (wheaties and beer) put on some orange, drink heavily and curse at corso and lou holtz until gametime. In va, wake up, cry if the games not on tv, frantcally hop from bar to bar until I find one playing the game, drink heavily. If the game's on tv I kick all of the hokie fans out of my house and scare the crap out of my dogs while I shout at the tv.

Since college, I've had that same gameday tradition. I wake up and turn on my DJ system as loud as I can stand it, and I blare Rockytop. Then, I eat breakfast with a bottle of Boone's Farm. Sounds gross to you, but it takes me back to college, when we'd drink it like juice to start the day on gameday.
Then, I gather my shizz and head up to meet friends and ride to find a parking place on campus. that's when we'll just make our own tailgate party with a little portable tv and lots of beer.
Oh, it's also tradition that I throw my Tennessee football (got it from my friend who was a kicker on the team a few years ago) with my wife. We always say, "we've got to throw the gameday football." I'll make us late before skipping the gameday football toss-around. That could be detrimental to the team if I skipped that.

I have yet to do the Vol Navy thing, but I think me and my buddies are wakeboarding all morning before the UCLA game on the way down from Ft Loudon Lake.

And the second part of your gameday plan (at home) just made my mouth water. That sounds really good.

Wake up and hydrate via Pedialyte. If it's warm outside, screwdriver. If it's a little cool, bloody mary. Iron my red pants and white dress shirt and get dressed with my bow tie and blazer. Go the Grove and start drinking Jack & Coke. Go to the game, probably. Come back to the Grove and mingle. Champagne if we won. Go the bar and watch the late games and celebrate/drown sorrows, whatever the case may be. Bars close early in Oxford, so then it's home for brandy and cigars.

I'll be up early, ... Ill get all the honey do lists out of the way, eat my breakfast, and then shower , put on the jersey, grab the football and settle in the couch to watch the pregame.. My wife will make either chilli, stew or crock pot beef for the game, we will either huddle around the tv, or the computer to watch the game together.

I will scream and holler much.. But I will not throw the football at the tv.

I will not throw the football at the tv.

I will not throw the football at the tv.

I will not throw the football at the tv.

I will not throw the football at the tv.

Wake up around 10 and take something for my pounding head, that is a direct result of too much draft beer and jager bombs from the night before.

Crack open a cold Bud light and turn on the tube. Watch the pregame while calling in a few last wagers to the bookie. Watch the first half of football while screaming at whichever opponent the team I'm cheering for is playing.

Start the grill at halftime and throw on the meat. More beer drinking and screaming through the second half. Repeat this process till the last game of the night airs.

I actually made a habit, as a student, of walking between different tailgates and invite myself to people's spreads.

Nowadays I pretty much hit the strip and barhop with the missus until the game if I'm attending... otherwise I'll hit the grill (brats, burgers, steaks, etc), drink and hopefully enjoy the game with the missus.

I've got a gameday question for you kids. I'd like to hear what you guys think about this situation.
My wife is 12 weeks pregnant, so she's right in the thick of feeling sick almost every day. I know that this is supposed to go away soon, but I'm not sure what to do about the game this Saturday. I'd LOVE to be there, and we have a friend who can get us tickets, but I care more about seeing the entire game.
My wife says she wants to "try to go" to the game, but I'm afraid that I know that means we'll be there for the first half, and then she'll want to go home because of not feeling well. I obviously care about making sure she isn't uncomfortable at a time like this, but still, I want to see the whole game!
Should I risk it and go to the game, or just say that I'd rather stay home and watch it on TV? I'm considering that option right now just so I will definitely be able to watch the whole thing. Then, we can just plan on going to a few games once she feels better in a few weeks. Aaaahhh, but it would be amazing to hear that crowd when the new team and staff run through the T.
Thoughts?

Back in college it would involve naked jumping jacks outside the minute I woke up, in the Fort it was ok but in college park with sorority parents meeting their kids - not ok. Then head to the game chanting eat, bite, f***, suck, gobble, nibble, chew, etc. chant. There are some superstitions we all have for gameday, that was one of mine. Now when I'm able to fly in for a couple games a year I head to my friends tailgate but still hit up a few bars for shots for good luck. At home, hit the gym, get back for ESPN Gameday and put every TV on football, drink when real nervous for a game - drink more if the team "needs" it - superstitions again if their working.

If she wants to try to make it and you really want to be there, then why not tape or DVR the game at home? You live in Maryville, right? If you have DVR then if you have to leave at half-time, you wouldn't even be behind the action by the 4th quarter (after fast-forwarding through half-time and the 3rd quarter's commercials). Just turn the radio off on the way home....

If she feels up to it, go to the game and take a radio headset. You'll get to see the pregame stuff and the first half, and get a feel for how things are going. If you have to leave at the half, you can listen to the rest on the way to the car. Record the game at home, and watch the 2nd half later if you wish.

My game day goes like this I start getting ready about 6 hrs before game time. I get decked out in orange and white get the car ready with flags ect... Start heading to K town about 5 hours before the game this allows me 2 hrs of driving and time to stop and get something to eat because stadium food is high. When we get to K town I park about a mile way at a parking meter about 15 min walk to the stadium we get there in time to go to the UT book store to look around after that time for the Vol walk and the band then we go into the stadium and scream until my throat has the taste of blood in it.

Wake up at 7 to watch gameday in bed. Make sure to accidentally wake up my gf for some 'assistance'.

depending on game schedules maybe fall back asleep or wake up and go to a bar or friends to watch games.
The west coast is the best cuz games literally start at nine in the morning

If I've been partying hard on Friday night, I usually just either stay up or get a couple of hours sleep, then head over to the strip and set up a big tailgate party with tent, grill, tons of beer, Jack, etc., with a satellite and TV to watch the early games. We party hard before and after the game. After the game, we head back to the hotel, get a shower, then head to the clubs for more action till we can't make it any longer. Sunday--I crash most of the day until NFL games start, then we huddle around the TV with more beer, Jack and the grill out on the deck.

Then you've obviously never heard Marvin Gaye's version from the '82 NBA All Star Game.

Well said. That Nike commercial they did with this song was perfect. I still get chills watching it. Too right.

I see most of you mention music as part of your game day tradition.

I am currently updating my ipod for this seasons gamedays/tailgates.

Other than Rocky Top, what are your top 10 favorite/best songs for gameday?????????????

I like "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)" by AC/DC.... they used it last season on ESPN for college football games. It's got a real nice intro and it gets you pumped up. Also "The Ocean" by Led Zeppelin gets me pumped too.
