Welcome aboard the crazy train. You can share the link from above. Good to have another old timer on the board. This is my first post! I was a Freshman at UT in 1967. This was about the time the band started playing the Tennessee Waltz. That year, I believe all performances of the song were dedicated to Andy Holt (the UT President, not the street). He was special and that was a good time. I almost suggested "I'm prouud to be an American" by lee Greenwood from the '85 Sugar Bowl season, but I got so tired of it after 9/11, I don't care if I ever hear it again (but it was great in '85).
I know this is not the subject but I am trying to find the name of the song and artist of the song that played on the jumbotron last year that had phrases such as "Tennessee aint no place I'd rather be o Lord wont you carry me back to Tennessee"
Thanks
tennessee jed by the grateful dead has those exact lyrics but i'm assuming that the dead didn't play at halftime last year.
as for the topic...immigrant song and the battle are the best in game songs other than rocky top...hey baby is the best during a break or after we've guaranteed a win
There were commercials in the mid 80's about the upcoming season of UT football. These started in the summer, and they actually showed highlights of the previous year with the Dead's 'Tennessee Jed' playing....(you never heard about any dogs being kicked, or having to use iodine, but they did sing the chorus)
