appreciate that. My dad breeds them in Knoxville which may be why I'm biased. He has 4 of them right now (it's nice being retired) and they spend much of the winter out in S Dakota working pheasant.

Not suitable for town living, but for my money its the border collie. We have two, one of them the grandson of a 2 time national herding champ. Smart and obedient to the letter, great for either working dogs or pets.

I have a bassett beagle mix. She sheds, but otherwise would meet your specifications perfectly.

I wouldn't worry about "mixed breeds." Mutts are healthier, and have less instances of psychological problems.

I used that breed selector as well. The only problem is it comes back with a lot of dog breeds that arent popular so are difficult to find.

But I had similar breeds, it came back with a Brittany as the #2 choice. It is a nice size, around 45 lbs.

You've got that right. One of the most intelligent and loyal dog breeds I've ever been around.

Yes thank you. The female I found under my car after church estimated age of 6-8 weeks. The male was on Dogs in Danger.com to be put down the Monday after Thanksgiving. We got him on Sat. before. He was about 18 months old. They put him on their site as the success story of the month. They are Ricky & Lucy.

I had a yellow lab named Lucy while I was in high school.

Get one. Labs in general are awesome with kids.

I've had 2 Chocolates, 2 yellows and one black lab. One chocolate, a female, was mentally retarded I do believe. It was the dumbest dog I have ever owned.

The rest have all been fantastic.

I want to eventually. We are thinking about getting a small house dog for my daughter.(her wants come first). We haven't def said yes. Just afraid with us both working and gone at least 10 hrs out of the day that it won't get the attention it needs.
