What is wrong with Alabama?

(1) No my expectations haven't changed. I still think we go 14-1 and win the national title.

(2) I think it'll be a combination of things. First they're gonna lose again this year in the national title game. That'll probably distress Saban big time. Then in 2018 they'll lose a couple of games. Recruiting has already fallen off from what it used to be. I think that continues. After all this I think Saban probably quits in 2019.

As a fan, I love your prediction for our team. But seriously man, we aren't close to a playoff caliber team at this point. It becomes more and more evident each time I watch elite teams play and compare to ours. Our defense will cost us this year.

As far as Bama goes, they'll be great as long as Saban is there, however long that is. They're on another level than we are.

I'll bet you justify last years Vandy loss with Saban lost to Monroe in his first year, dont you?

I'm sorry but does anyone else find it troubling that we opened as 8 point underdogs to a bad Florida team in a coaches 5th year?

Most lines are at Vols +5. When you consider home field is worth 3 points Vegas pretty much sees this game as a toss up.

hurts made yrds on RUNNING, which HE HAD TO DO. I saw Fresno state run on them late. After hurts got he's bell rung a few times.

Hurts was barely touched on Saturday. What does Hurts have to do with Fresno St running? And Fresno only ran it 5 times in the entire second half.

What game did you watch?

Alabama has issues that we can only scratch the surface on. Anything more and Freak would be having the "Mother of All Server" crashes.

Unfortunately, football is not one of the aforementioned issues that Allahbamah has.

BTW: Did you know that the toothbrush and toothpick were invented in Alabama?

Well duh! If they were invented anywhere else, they would have been called Teethbrush and Teethpicks!

The only thing I see wrong with "that team", is that they have one of the best running backs in the country masquerading as a qb. If you can force them into obvious passing situation, and don't turn the ball over, you have a shot. Offensively mobile qbs have given them problems in the past, and you have to make them defend the length and width of the field.

Who do you have under center that is going to do all this?

Whats wrong with Alabama? Is this real life? So now some fans are trying to compare our defensive efforts to Alabamas? Please tell me this is a freaking joke.

I love bringing up Monroe loss to Alabama people. But it's true: Almighty Saban lost to ULM. Yes, I know he's won nc's , still doesn't change that loss.

Just remember I said this first.

2017 - lose national title game AGAIN
2018 - lose 2 or more game in conference
2019 - new head coach
2020 - back in Atlanta but lose to Florida for the SEC Championship

Don't worry yourself bud, 99.4% of VN will definitely remember you saying this and it will be brought up over and over again in numerous threads, through the 2022 season!!

Besides the obvious.

Most agree that Alabama is the standard that all teams should compare themselves to.

Many on hear say that Tennessee is not very good.

I present exhibit A:

Fresno State: 216 yds. Passing & 71 yds. Rushing - 10 pts. / 287 yds. total
Alabama: 192 yds. Passing & 305 yds. Rushing - 41 pts. / 497 yds. total

Indiana State: 93 yds. Passing & 136 yds. Rushing - 7 pts. / 229 yds. total
Tennessee: 235 yds. Passing & 172 yds. Rushing - 42 pts. / 407 yds. total *Tennessee had a 91 yd. kick off return that isn't in the total.

Comparing performance against an FBS-level team with that against an FCS-level team?

Betting lines are designed to entice you to bet your hard earned money, so that they can take it.

It amazes me how many people don't understand this concept.

When the money get too great on one side, they move the line to cover their bets.

It's kind of like this threaded. Written to get people replying.

I don't think Alabama is as strong as precious years. They have tons of obvious talent but I don't think they're explosive outside of Hurts. Their defense is always solid but I don't think near as dominant as past seasons.
Well, both starting OLBs suffered season ending injuries vs FSU. Also, lost a starting MLB (leader of front 7) and 3rd best OLB for 1-3 games due to injuries in FSU game. Having to get their backups up to speed. Played very vanilla d-front, no blitzing, vs Fresno. Also, vs Fresno, the 2s played a good bit to get them some experience. OL still not where it needs to be. I think (hope) there may be a change this week to move the starting RT (Womack) to RG and start Wills at RT. I think it could provide better run blocking and pass protection.

Don't let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.

Yep, we should have kept them scoreless, intercepted the ball every time it was thrown and allowed negative yards rushing.

By this same logic Alabama should have destroyed Fresno State. It should have been 160-0.

Well, one thing Alabama and Tennessee share in common this year is a high number of players departing.Trying to make an evaluation of either from the first 2 games is a little premature.

If Alabama loses, then I will ask what's wrong with them. They have proven to be pretty damn good at fixing wrong things on the field. If they could only do something about the stench.
