Seriously, I have read posts herer for months but this is my first post. Good Riddance to Erik Ainge? Why? Because he committed to A team all the way across the country when he could have gone anywhere? Yes, I agree, his mistakes last night cost us, but some of you seem to think it mattered more to you than him. That is ridiculous. If Fulmer/Cutcliff thought Crompton could have played better, he would have been in. They see these guys in practice everyday. We may be some of the worst fans in the country. You really think if some star recruit asked Ainge or Clausen if they should come here they would say yes? There is more hate for those 2 guys than for Spurrier around here. Now Foster cost us the game because he looks over his shoulder? He looks over his shoulder because he know he will get caught by CBs and probably doesn't want to get stripped from behind. If fans keep treating all these players like crap when they don't perform as well as your dad told you that you did in pop warner, we will stop getting recruits. Have some loyalty to the team. Ainge did his best, was it good enough? No, but he came here, worked hard and tried. Apparently the staff felt he gave us our best shot. To be honest, if the line had opened more running lanes, Ainge would not of been forced into obvious passing situations. If you think that his performance some how bothers you more than him you are delusional. Foster has been real good for us and will be our brightest hope on O next year. No, he doesn't have break away speed, but he is good. Our defense hit as hard as any team I have seen this year, our coverage was better and our O line is great at pass blocking, improving on the run. We got to the SECCG with a team of inexsperienced receivers and 2 freshmen in the secondary. I really think if we won a NC, some of you would be critics of the way the players won. We still have a bowl and need to get a little Big 10 revenge. Calling out Ainge or Foster doesn't help.

Having a strong, well articulated opinion is exactly the way to introduce yourself.

Welcome to the board.

We may be some of the worst fans in the country.

I agree with most you said except this. The criticism that comes is part of the deal. You don't have 107k every home game and 60-75% of the fans at this weekend's game and not expect some heavy negative commentary after a loss, sorry.

When Ainge threw his second interception, hardly any player on the sideline said anything to him. Maybe you need to give your message to them.

I completely agree with ya bro. Welcome to the board. BTW, if you thank players for not laying down after being OWNED by our fiercest rivals you have low expectations. Just an FYI. :hi:

Nice articulated opinion. But the opinion is split as to the future of the program. I think Tennessee may be better next year because they have so much coming back. But the other teams in the league, and division will be better as well. I think Florida and UGA are both going to be better than they were this year.

Next year will be similar to this year. 9-3 or 8-4 type year. Basically what you get from Fulmer. You get a good number of wins but not very many trophies. I think Florida is the odds-on favorite to win the East and the SEC next year. UGA will be very good as well. And Tennessee picks up Auburn on the schedule while dropping Arkansas. That doesn't help.

So the basic question surrounding the split among the Tennessee fan base is whether 8-4/9-3 and no titles is adequate success for the program. If yes, you are a Fulmer supporter. If no, you are probably desiring a change.

Ainge might be a kind of player that doesn't want to be consoled for an obvious failure in execution. Manning is the same way........when he screws up he wants to be alone to get his head on straight and I don't see any teammates gather around him. The team as a whole lost the game even is a few mistakes really stand out but let's remember that we wouldn't heve even been in this position without some gutsy play by our qb. time to put this game to rest and get behind our boys for teh bowl game ahead. GO VOLS and kick the Little 10's a$$. BTW welcome to the board TNBV. :peace2:

I'm all for standing behind our team....I haven't missed a SECC game yet & I'm contemplating going to Tampa to watch us play the badgers......but.....gutsy play by our quarterback???? ummmmm.........no. He plays scared and has since the ND injury. I agree with your analysis about Manning/Ainge though....

Welcome to the Board.....So what is your point? try 10 words or less.....give you 25 since you are a newbie...agree with above....ND Ainge has not played as well several hundred threads ago.... I have all the respect for Foster and Ainge but there is something being overlooked by our Coaching Staff...

when I see a head on a bobble I expect it from hs player but not College....Coaching should have corrected that a while back...

As I posted last night after the game...I am sure Ainge was inconsolable, as he wanted to win as much as anyone in that stadium. I just hope he pulls it back together, my bet is he will, and prepares his butt off for wisconsin. GO VOLS. As to Foster, I was glad he looked back, as I was afraid he wouldbe stripped, and I am sure after the Penn St. game last year he did not want to be the fall guy again.

Exactly, these are young adults that are getting a free college tuition to play a game...criticism just comes with the territory...

free tuition, and a lot more. they are very, very well paid for doing what they do -- play a game that they love.

criticism is part of the spot light for sure. Fulmer had a saying something like, "Never get to full of the praise or criticisms from your fan base because they are skewed heavily. Your never as good as they say when you winning and your never as bad as they say when your not. The truth is somewhere in the middle and that is where you have to live." I love that statement.

EA is a very good QB, period. Not great and better than advertised by most on here. He's not perfect but when confident about his protection he is much better than advertised in the media. The guy is a work in progress for sure. I bet he goes pro and better than 10 teams would take him in the NFL draft just on potential alone.
