Barton Simmons on Vandy recruiting

It may not happen this week, but within the next couple of weeks, I expect Vanderbilt to land some very good recruits within the state of Tennessee.

There could be three of four kids in Tennessee that are ready to commit at the same time and all to Vanderbilt. This isn't a done deal but it is a very real possibility.

Vandy already has 7 of its 8 commitments out of the state of Georgia. By the end of July, don't be surprised if the Dores have 5 or more highly rated in-state kids as well.

Im sure he's talking about Kimbrow, Redmond, and possibly Bowles. Why does Tennessee have such a hard time pulling instate kids? I have heard over and over that Fulmer is responsible for destroying our rep with the HS coaches, so my question for the older guys is, did Majors have troubles getting these guys?

Since when did we have trouble getting In-state guys? Last year we got every in-state player we wanted.. the sky is not falling. Vandy is still vandy. UT is still UT. :rock:

It is very early. Vandy's coach is a very good salesman and is compared to Bruce pearl is that skill set category. However, he is deficient in his coaching skills and will rely heavily on his assistant coaches to carry him home once they start playing the game.

He better be a good salesman. Selling Vandy football is like trying to sell (insert punchy one-liner).

We will not lose anyone we are highly targeting to Vandy. I'm fairly certain of that.

Redmond's latest comments:

"It was good to go to these camps and most schools are recruiting me as a defensive back," said Redmond. "And defensive back is where I want to play. A lot of camps stuck out to me like the Ole Miss camp but the camps that really stuck out to me were Mississippi State, Tennessee and North Carolina."

Dooley doesn't. Check last year. Kimbrow, Redmond and Bowles aren't going to Vandy.

have any of you actually been to Vandy's campus? I have nothing against the school. It is a very pretty campus located on the nice side of nashville.

But ...

Their stadium is a joke. Any kid who visits their stadium and then goes and visits UT's is going to do a quick compare ans contrast and UT will come out the victor hands down.

The Guru may be the guru because he has time to sit behind the computer and post. But, if you look at the offer lists of these Georgia kids that are committed, you will see no SEC schools have offered any of them, except the 4 star does have a UGA offer.

Looks like a reality check is in order. The guru has just yelled "fire" in the theatre and proclaimed again, as he often does, that the sky is falling.

It is one thing to constantly post other website's stories on VN, but to post the story from another site that has already been posted earlier in the day is pathetic.

Don't underestimate Franklin, very smooth talker. I enjoy his segments on 104.5 The Zone. Great recruiter

Yeah, I'm actually from Nashville. Vanderbilt Stadium/Dudley field is only a few thousand seats bigger than UTC's Finley Stadium (largest stadium in 1-AA). Pretty sad.
