At what point can we achieve the critical mass necessary to fire CPF? I have had it with him. He obviously can't recruit following a down year. He can't maintain team discipline. He will not hire anyone who he percieves as a threat to his job. Also, I highly question his coaching skills at this point. Maybe he just has not kept up with the times. Now is the time. Mike Hamilton must strike while the iron is hot. Don't wait for Phil to ride our program into the ground so low that we cannot entice a top coach to come in here and salavage things. Take him out now. A clean break. it is the merciful thing to do.

Critical mass (point) will be reached when Pilot Oil and Thornton Enterprises say so.

I laugh every time I read one of your posts. Although, much like a clown, I am laughing "at" your posts and not "with" your posts. Your comments are ridiculous.

You sheep would be better served to channel your hostility toward what must be done to fix the program instead of lashing out at the people with some vision. You are the same kind of goof balls who probably would have wanted to lynch Tomas Edision because his bad, bad lightbulb threatened the staus quo of you candle lit lives. Get a grip. Fulmer is not the man anymore. We all need to move on.

Sometimes when I read these posts on how the program has just gone straight to hell I sit back and wonder what was being said back in '88 when we went 0-6 to start the season. Wonder how many people just jumped on the fire Majors bandwagon when it was just two years before when we beat the hell out of Miami in the Sugar Bowl. Had these people had their way we wouldn't have had the stellar years after that which in my opinion built the foundation for what the Vols did in the '90s. Here we are now and low and behold we have one bad season in almost 20 years. We're done for and that's it. It is absolutely crazy in my mind to think that you take the only coach to win a national championship in 50 years for this program and after one horrible season he should be fired. What message does that send to other coaches? It says doen't matter how much you win, if you have one bad season your ass is gone. Who would want that pressure on them. Yes, Fulmer has gotten lazy when it comes to discipline on the team. It showed this year big time. If he is the coach he should be he will correct that by next season. By bringing in Cut he couldn't have done any better when it comes to discipline. Don't think for a minute Cut is not a threat to take his job. If things turn around like they should get ready to hear people start say Cut should be the next HC. :twocents:

Hillbilly, you're a Vol fan. ACT LIKE IT! Don't give me this stuff that you're a fan and that's why you're making such posts. You're clearly just trying to get a rise out of people.

Hillbilly, You could be right. But keeping with common decency, fairness and the integrity of the program, it requires that Fulmer be given the chance to redeem himself. That CRITICAL MASS you speak of may be the growth between the ears of those who think it should happen any other way.

Maybe if you and donsarge combine your critical mass rings' power it might happen. Or do you need a 3rd ring or a sword to unleash the power of greyskull?

We're going to have to suffer through another horrible to bad season, attendance will have to drop off, Powers To Be will have to be left with no choice.

i'm curious...what "vision" is that? i prefer to go with what works. and i got to tell you, though we had a bad year, and CPF's decisons in the off season, and his philosophy on staff, scheme etc...played a dominant roll in that, it also played a dominant roll in 13 years of winning football, 13 years of bowl games, 2 SEC titles, a boat load of NFL talent coming thru Knoxville, oh and a national title. like i said in another post, you can't just simply focus on the misgivings of our coach....he's done a little good in his time at UT, and he deserves the chance to fix it.

If your vision really includes firing him for one bad year, and hiring the "next big thing", only to find out that HC changes breed nothing but instability and a snowball affect that teams like Nebraska, Alabama and Notre Dame all have gone thru the past decade. And while they may finally have all found the "one" to bring them back, look at what they had to go thru to get there? we have a chance to nip this in the bud quickly and get back to what we would all agree was TN football.

Until someone can show me a coach that's going to have the same sustained success like CPF has had over his previous 13 years, i'll wait and see if he's going to have sustained failure from this point forward. 1 bad year, AS OF NOW, is not a trend. As I've also said, if it comes to pass that he can't fix it, then we can talk.

Look i don't think he did a very good job this year, and i also think that some of his decisions in the past have contributed to the issues currently plaguing the Vols, but he's earned the chance and right to clean up his own mess.

I think if you and some of the others that get on his case all the time really listened, you'd probably find out that we don't really differ that much on what the problems are, why we have them, and who's to blame. The big difference is the willingness to just throw the guy under the bus with no regard for what he has accomplished in the past.

EXCELLENT POST!

I promised that I wouldn't respond to anymore of your useless blather but I'm bored. First of all, VolunteerHillbilly was the one who claimed to possess the special "vision", not I. There are burdens of such great powers, one being criticism.

I have never complained to the Mods about being attacked and I'm sure that they could all verify that. I would guess that you think I complained about one of your posts. Nothing could be further from the truth. Up until now, none of your posts are worth a mention. I don't even consider you to be an attacker, that would require a man and I don't think you're up to such tasks.

As for the no mustache, Machiavelli didn't have a mustache. But Giuseppe Verdi did. That is who occupies my avatar space. I wouldn't expect a guy with a one year old inflating snot bubbles with his nose to understand that though.

I'm here to enjoy the comradery of my fellow Vol fans. Not to be harassed by some halfwit everytime I post. If you have further problems, please direct them to my PM box and we shall chat. If not, please stop harassing me every single time that I post.

Note: Just say no to snot bubbles and the posters that come with them. :bad:

I apologize to any posters other than Wilby who have wasted time reading this post.
