Why do they put so much hype on "National Signing Day"? I understand most of the commitments sign on this date, but the big fish sometimes wait a couple months before they make their final decisions. If there is going to be a day for signing your LOI then it should be mandatory for all players. They shouldn't allow certain players to drag it out just so they can try to make a bigger name for themselves. You make your name on the field not dragging it out for months. It might make the player feel good about themselves, but it's not fair toward the other players on the teams.

This is where most of the surprise flips happen.

Probably 95% of recruits will sign this day as well

The first rule of signing day is you talk about signing day for 365 days a year except for during a leap year then it is 366!

Because in this god awful world of war and hate and crime and drug abuse and racism and drought and infestation and disease, we have only one sanctuary. Only one place where we can shed all of negative thoughts and live as one. Where we can hold hands and sing in harmony. Where the birds chirp and the flowers bloom in the most illustrious colors. It's where earth meets the heavens and then, with a soft, soft whisper some innocent person softly says:

LET"S GET TO CRUITI'N!

PS:And by the way, only like 2 or three drag it out after Signing day. The rest that don't sign are headed to JUCO and are afraid to announce it.

Or maybe some recruits drag it out for the crazy purpose of trying to find the best school, for them, to attend.

It's only one of the biggest decisions in their life to date..

They have a signing period.
There is a start to the signing period.
They don't have to sign that day and have a certain amount of time when they can sign.

We have found that the verbal commitments that schools get from teenagers don't mean that much.... therefore the Letter of Intents came into being.

I don't know all of the rules, but I'm not sure that we need to make a whole lot of new ones.

It's Christmas in Feb. We get to see all the new toys. Hopefully Santa will bring us some good ones this year.

Honestly, I have never understood some fans' fascination with NSD or recruiting in general. Yeah, I guess it's exciting to think about the potential of all those young players who have the capability of transforming your beloved football team into a national powerhouse...

... but on the other hand, there's a lot of grown men out there who will be glued to the internet or their radio tomorrow - grown men who have no real connection to the university, the game of football, the coaches or the players. Not to say that such men can't be fans, but it just seems like taking the fan obsession a little too far.
