When did Gottfried lobby for this job? I don't recall any of that. I do remember Pearl basically calling Alabama and LSU idiots for canning their coaches, especially LSU.

I don't remember Gottfried publicly lobbying for the job either. I wouldn't really want him myself.

I don't know how public it was or if lobbied is the right word but I thought I remember reading he contacted or had his agent contact the search committee when they were looking to replace Pearl-one of the articles during that period mentioned it. I think the thinking was at the time why hire someone who Pearl owned? Still would have been better than Cuonzo though.
