I’m very familiar with Brown. He did a lot of “stuff” in his time and was a bit “out there,” but Will Wade is a totally different animal. I truly think Wade has some mental health issues that need to be addressed in addition to ethical issues that have consumed him in his time coaching. I don’t know, but that guy shouldn’t be coaching anywhere in college basketball. Will Wade now but does anyone remember Dale Brown?
Dale Brown had Shaq, Stanley Roberts, and Chris Jackson on the same team. How do you not win it all?
1989 or 1990 was the year I believe
One year they were playing Georgia Tech and using a man defense...Tech was a lot smaller, but quicker and proceeded to drive around Roberts, who got into foul trouble...I kept whispering to the TV, play a zone Dale, play a zone...Unbelievable to have that kind of talent and not win it all...
I went to that ballgame at TBA. Lethal Weapon 3 lit 'em up, Kenny Anderson was my favorite non-UT player, at that time. Dennis Scott and Brian Oliver made the rest of the Trinity. GT also had, Orlando Lightfoot from Chattanooga on that team, iIrc. They made the Final 4, that year.
They mentioned the Groves incident during the doc and think they showed the clip. Brown lied and said he didnt swing at Carlus no matter what what your eyes saw. Joe Dean was the ad then and just thought it was funny.Btw, I liked Dale Brown until the Groves incident. Still do, everybody loses it. He seemed to really care for his players and was a character. There's a 30 for 30 or the SEC Network version, where Shaq and Dale hang out, pretty entertaining
Actually, he came to LSU in 1972 and got the full brunt of the Ernie & Bernie years, as we smacked them around pretty good. I think he had some complaints towards UT about piling it on.Dale Brown started, I believe, the last yr of Ernie & Bernie. He hired the high school coach of Rudy Macklin from Louisville as his assistant and he was on his way.
Yep, you are correct, Tech made the final 4 that year...I went to that ballgame at TBA. Lethal Weapon 3 lit 'em up, Kenny Anderson was my favorite non-UT player, at that time. Michigan St. and another guy I loved back then, Steve Smith beat Cal. St. (I think). They were 2nd round games, winners made the Sweet 16
