With no press conference scheduled, it doesn't look like Dooley's firing will be announced today.

What is Hart waiting for?

There certainly aren't any streaks to keep alive.

Now come on, you know dools is trying to keep his losing streak against UK going, we def owe it to him as crappy program to continue the tradition.

I mean last year they beat us with a WR for cryin out loud. They should have let him go then IMO.

Depending on who you believe, the guys who are paying the buyout are in charge of the current coaching search/Gruden wooing and Hart has been muzzled until further notice.

I think you may be right on this, and it worries me. We need a competent AD, not just someone who waits and hopes the boosters will solve it for him. We'll see how it plays out, maybe the boosters do get something done. But I think clear, strong leadership is needed in this instance and I don't see it.

Plenty of sources suggest that Hart will let Dooley go at the end of the season, but I don't see the advantage in keeping it under wraps. Certainly, as a public institution, UT is very limited in its ability to find and hire a new coach until they take the firing and search public.

Waiting until the end of the season seems foolish. There really isn't anything to gain. There isn't a notable opponent left. There certainly aren't any streaks to keep alive. Our recruiting class is hardly stellar and would probably be better to disrupt and reorganize now than in December.

All waiting accomplishes is uncertainty for the staff and players, limited ability to negotiate with replacements, further diviseness amongst fans, more empty seats, and an ever shortening window of time to make a change.

Is Hart just being timid? Obviously, he hasn't had to fire a head football coach on this level before. Is he in over his head here?

No Hart is not in over his head. He understands the context of where the program is than many of our delusional "fans".

Hart will not make an announcement until he gets his man. Most believe the #1 candidate is Gruden. Haslam and the other big $$$ boosters are out there doing their due diligence behind the scenes. Once the guy they (Hart and boosters) want says yes, then Hart will go more public to get the contract done. Then and only then will he announce Dooley's firing. I suspect Dooley well elect to announce his resignation for family reasons and accept a reduced buyout, guessing about $2-3 million. The assistants will have jobs faster that you can say "What?". I doubt Sunseri's next job will be as a DC!!!! I still believe it will all come down after the last regular season game. One of the assistants will HC the team in the bowl game. The new HC in waiting will be compiling his staff, observing bowl practices, and recruiting. Don't be surprised if several current AC are retained. There's some good talent there. I would also bet that Bell is his first call and visit with Henry and the current commits following.

Does after the last game leave us enough time to repair an unremarkable commitment list?

Wow. I didn't know that there were so many athletic directors that are members of this board. Hilarious but at the same time pathetic. Some of you act like you've ran an athletic department before but the closest you've actually gotten is a franchise manager on Madden.

I dunno...maybe Hart doesn't feel the need to hold a presser everytime a bunch of message board posters get their panties in wad.

No inside guy...just a guess. TIFWIW

Yeah, I guess you can't question what someone does unless you've had their job. Good thing you won't be voting for president next week.

The next coach will be a "big" name and the commitment list will grow in quality. I would not be surprised if there were several significant "flips". Some recruits may get recruited over. The $$$'s will spend whatever is needed to get their man.

He needs to make some sort of statement regardless of what it is. When you let the media run wild without a statement it never looks good.

What media? Other than message boards and a couple of local radio jocks nothing is being said.

Read Basilio's blog today (scroll down). Sounds quite plausible to me.

The Tony Basilio Show

Yeah, I saw that and it does sound plausible, but, if true, I'm uncomfortable with our AD being content to take a backseat and hope for a hail mary. That sort of thing rarely works. I'd rather have clear direction and leadership for something like this.

Hart want be making the call. His superiors will. All he has to do is annouce there decision. You know the folks with the pocket book. It's absolutely not fair to the players. They deserve a statement. They here the rumors just like we do.

Given the recent leadership shown by ADs here, I'm quite comfortable with trying a different route.

What are you waiting for, give up the delusion of most on this board and grasp the fact that nobody on this board has ANY CLUE what is going on with Hart's decision. You can save yourself the grief of asking questions like this one if you would grasp the reality of the situation.

It will all work itself out fellas. I want Dooley out of here as much as the next guy, but I do agree the dropping him before Troy vandy Uk and Mizz will hurt us. IF we drop one to troy Mizz or Vandy you fire him first thing monday. We just have to be patient

Dooley is hurt himself, that's why TN needs to change now!

Yeah, Hamilton did his job as he saw fit too. How did that work out?

Sounds to me like you think you'd make a great AD. Please be sure to interview when Hart leaves. I'm sure you'll be one of their top candidates with all the experience and knowledge you have.

It sounds like you would make a great little lamb. I'm glad you don't believe in questioning what anyone does at their job unless you've done that job. I am also glad you won't be voting for a president next week.
