What is everyone's thought on...

This. Dooley will never sniff another head coaching job as long as he lives.

How can you say this? I am not suggesting that he will get one soon, but I don't understand this. Former head coaches get second chances all of the time, especially at lower tier programs that can take a chance and need some stability. The Georgia State suggestion is actually very insightful. Makes sense. At this point, if someone wins 4-5 game there a year, they eill be making progress. He could be able to recruit some decent talent with his ties and knowing how good Georgia football is. If not that, I could see him taking a year off to be with his family and then taking a 6 figure position somewhere middle of the road as a recruiting coordinator and TE coach. Actually, if he wanted to get out of coaching altogether, he would make a great administrator and media relations guy for an athletic department- probably even AD itself.

See, I think he would be best as a head coach who has great coordinators around him. He's good as a front man and with the organizatiinal side of things.

Dooley is in the same boat as Mike Shula, they are damaged goods now. Their last name only took them so far. Position coach is the best they can ever hope for.

Not sure if he'd do this, but I think he'd be an outstanding talking head. He is brilliant and truly understands the game...he just can't seem to motivate very well.

Talking head.......You mean like......Gruden? Yes that might work then everyone will want him!!!!

UVA, his alma mater. He'd be a great fit there the next time they are looking for a coach.

If he does end up losing his job here, he'd be smart to go to Alabama with uncle Nick for a couple years, wait for Mike London to get fired and then take that job.

Imagine being the AD at a lower level school. You don't get to hire known good coaches. All you get to hire are coaches whom you hope will be good, at which point of course they leave to move up the ladder. What is there about Dooley's resume that would make you think he's more likely to do a good job than some charismatic young hotshot position coach from a BCS school? That guy's got no record; Dooley's got a bad record. Why would you ever take the guy with the bad record instead?

I also think he could go into TV. Being entertaining with a microphone in front of him is Dooley's one definite skill.

He ends up an assistant. He has proven he cannot be a head coach. I feel sorry for any program that hires him as a head coach. They are in for years of gloom.

Where Dooley might end up?

I feel like he could possibly end up being a good coach. But maybe he was thrown into the fire a little too quickly for a big time job.

I know most people's feelings on him are a little harsh, but I genuinely hope to see him land on his feet. (if or when a move is made).

Dooley will go back to practicing law while working as an assistant coach at Clarke Central in Athens. Of course there's always a chance Saban will need a special teams coach.

I think La Tech screwed themselves and him over by reaching on him (then Hamilton right after that). He was a TE coach. Never even sniffed a coordinator job. Nothing in his career pointed to him being OC material, let alone HC.

He tried to leap the natural progression a HC would normally make, and I think that hurt him. Businesses have job requirements for a perfectly good reason. So you don't waste their time and money because you are in over your head.

That's where Dooley is....over his head. I suspect he'll go back to being a position coach.

He prolly need to go back into law. Maybe Fox and Farmer or Ogle Elrod and Baril need a man of his caliber to help good people turn thier wrecks into checks!
