I think the same could be said of the previous game in the Elder Scrolls series, Morrowind. It kinda just dumped you off in this massive world and let you figure everything out on your own, even though the depth of the game was astounding. Very difficult to get into. Oblivion's not the same way, however. The depth of the game can still be a little overwhelming at first, but the tutorials are much better, all the systems are much easier to get used to and you almost never have to walk around for a bloody half an hour to get somewhere like you did in Morrowind (although you could if you wanted too -- builds your skills up). It will still take some persistence for about a week or two, but once you break that point, get yourself ready for a gaming experience you never even thought was possible. You thought Grand Theft Auto was open ended? Oblivion makes GTA feel like a tunnel.(vol_freak @ May 27 said:LIO, I have not heard of that.
Milo, I hear good things about Oblivion but it doesn't really look like a game I could enjoy. I see a lot of people playing it when I am online.
Arcade games? You know, there's a pretty good arcade right on this site. Why spend $400+ for a computer tower to play arcade game?(vol_freak @ May 27 said:I might look into the ps3 when it comes out but I really love the 360. Some of the live arcade games are pretty fun really.
I still have a lot of questions with the Sony and right now the 360 is the best thing on the market. So, I am happy for right now. As for the live arcade, it's addictive for some reason and you can also play some of them coop online also which makes it fun.(milohimself @ May 28 said:Arcade games? OWB's right. If you want another computer, XBox is your choice. But if you want good games (What Microsoft had at E3 still amounts to jack -- they puffed up their games real nice, let's see how the finished products turn out first) that stretches beyond the variety of first person shooters, go Sony.
I have had a PS2 since they came out. It's modded so, believe me, I have a ton of games. All in all, with what is on the market I am a 360 fan. That could change once the ps3 comes out but i will have to wait and see.(milohimself @ May 28 said:Eh. I'm too cheap to shell out for anything besides Hexic, 'cause it's free. Hexic is alright, I guess. I'd rather play flash games online.
Trust me on the PS2, if you have a few extra bucks. They're cheap and there's a wicked amount of great games you can go get for it.
I am intruiged by the wii. It could be interesting, especially at that price point.(milohimself @ May 28 said:The console I am waiting most for is the Nintendo Wii. I was reviewing all of the console stuff at E3, and I have to say Nintendo dominated Microsoft and Sony both, then shook them down for lunch money. Sony just looked terrible all-around, and Microsoft came out with a few promises for cool games, but nothing much as far as "new stuff." XBox 360 is basically going on as the same ol' type of stuff with better graphics (another computer-ism, if you ask me). Nintendo came out and proved that the Wii's motion-sensor remote control will be very functional during gameplay, and not feel strange after you get used to it for a little bit.
