What improvements will we see on OFFENSE?

Our running game will carry us this year no doubt. Same as it was last year and that shouldn't surprise anyone. Our run offense should be better simply off of increased experience but I suspect that we see some wrinkles. It's been aforementioned that people want more I-formation as was shown in the Outback Bowl and I think that will find its way into short yardage situations. I would love to see an I-formation triple option with Kamara, Hurd, and Dobbs on the field at the same time but I don't know if it will ever happen.

Most of our passing success has seem to come off of plays that surprised the defense (i.e. TE's releasing over the middle). Other routes that have seemed to work are comebacks, bubble-screens, and curl outs to our RB's. I'd like to see us add some quick outs, wheel routes, and some crossing routes. I think this will get the ball more into the hands of Byrd and Smith, two guys with the best hands.

Having said this I don't think our offense needs much changing, we have the personnel. Just think a few wrinkles could keep the D guessing.

Execution was much more a problem than playcalling. If you dont execute, does it really matter what you call?

We'll average 42 points per game. 1st in the SEC.

We'll gain over 7000 yards of total offense en route to a 15-0 record.

3500+ yards passing and 3500+ yards rushing.

We will have 3 1000 yard rushers. Jalen Hurd, Alvin Kamara, and Josh Dobbs.

We will also have 2 1000 yards receivers. Preston Williams and Josh Malone.

Love your confidence. I think your passing/receiving stats are a little bit of wishful thinking and not sure Dobbs will get to 1,000 rushing- only bc coaches will want to keep him healthy.

I look for Kelly to pick up some rushing work; should be n emphasis to keep our Guys fresh for the long season. Do look for Malone, Smith, and P Will to have great year along with Ethan Wolf...only thing holding him back is targets.

Don't care much for individual stats except for passing yards to improve. The rest will hopefully be shared and spread out amongst the abundance of talent.

What should we be concerned about?

Yes, Azzani. The passing game "coordinator" was ineffectual. When CBJ stepped in to help out with that unit, there was an immediate improvement.

Let's hope this unit, from coaches to players, takes a huge leap forward this year.

I play a lot of madden and watch a lot of Hudl, so i have a gift for predicting these things.

Dobbs will pass for 5,000 yards and rush for 2000 more. 100 total TDs.

3 1500 yard rushers (Kelly also gets close)

1 2000 yard receiver and 3 1000 yarders.

Offense will average 77 ppg

9 first team All Americans (11 if we don't start Kendrick or Josh Smith)

Dobbs wins the Heisman, Maxwell, Walter Camp, Davey O'Brien, and Edsie Robinson Awards

But what's the point of a having a great Defense if the offense struggles to put up TD's? I think the reasons why we lost a lot of games was because we kept on going 3 and out.

Because defense wins championships. People can say its a cliche all they want but its the truth. Think about it for a second.

OU game- we are up 17-3, now if the defense holds up and performs like it had in the previous quarters, we more than likely win easily. Same way with the UF game. If we make just one or two 4th down stops, game is likely over. Give me a great defense over a great offense any day.

I'm a little late to the party here, but I'm really mostly concerned about our playcalling. DeBord HAS to be more aggressive in the second half. We were very clearly a first half team last year.

I think some of it had to do with depth and development. Maybe early in the season, our OL had yet to jell and we didn't have adequate depth to spell the starters for drives here and there.

But when we get into the run-run-incompletion 3-and-outs, specifically on consecutive drives in the second half, that's when things really turned south. This year, we have the depth (Butch said so himself). We have the players. We have the experience. If we get into that same terrible rhythm (or lack thereof), it'll be a tough road to Atlanta.

Last year we saw why Michigan fans laughed when we hired DeBord. This year, he's gotta prove them wrong. I think he can, but it might take spending three hours alone in the pressbox before every game, not just Georgia.

I see execution as more of an extraneous event so I wouldn't list it as an improvement we will see. We just have to hope the players are prepared and motivated to win and I think they were last year for the most part. I would however like to see a more diverse playbook perhaps. That's all I'm saying. I do agree that play calling entirely depends on execution though.
