What impressed me most in the second half performance against Florida

It was after we went up by 17 points and made them put together a long drive to score to pull it within 10 points. At that point, we could've let the foot off the gas and gave up a cheap big play but we didn't. We made those suckers earn that last touchdown. I'm not saying i'm happy that we gave up a score, but i'm happy that we didn't give up an easy one. In my opinion, that is what showed that this team is completely different than the team that gave up a 14 point lead and game winning td on 4th and 17 in Gainesville last year. I think those days are over.

I was not overly happy with the prevent defense after our total domination but the orange swarm executed it well. Shoop did a good job of giving them time consuming yardage without the big chunks. Certainly better than 3rd and Chavis.

That's what I was thinking too. I kept doing the math the whole 4th Q once we had the lead, and then on the last drive, thinking that if they want to take 4-5 minutes to score then let them, rather than risk a quick score that puts us back to the same situation as last year.

Glad to see that someone else saw the 'time-consuming' prevent defense. It was really appreciated.

Typical prevent D allows for quick out of bounds completions that get the opponent down the field without burning the clock. Shoop's prevent D gave them the hash marks and the middle, ate clock, and prevented big gashes. That may have had more to do with UF's offense but either way it worked.

In that situation, up by 17, trading a touchdown for 5 minutes is a no-brainer. Expertly done by Shoop and the boys in smokey gray.

You either gamble and absolutely bring the house especially on 3rd down. Wish they would've been a bit more aggressive on 3rd downs during that drive.

However, in that situation you have to keep everything in front of you and Florida chewing up clock was actually great defense for UT. The Vols had everything to do with making them do that....

Congrats to Shoop and more importantly the players for staying on task and assignments.

We made them eat clock up on their last scoring drive, actually kind of a nail in their own coffin.. 7 pts at that time wasn't gonna help, but been nice to have negated that score. Since our O was clicking, all we needed was to finish out the clock..

There are so many individual plays you can point to on both sides of the ball, but the thing I really find most impressive, and this is not just in the 2nd half, is that the offense only had 2 negative plays the entire game. Think about that for a minute. As much as we heard from the SEC media that they feared for Dobbs' life against the vaunted gator defense, the OL played outstanding pretty much the entire game.

But if I'm going to say the most impressive thing in the 2nd half it was Dobbs. That is the quickest I have seen him get rid of the ball I think ever. He was actually the same in the 1st half but receivers were dropping the throws. But it seemed as if he was finally trusting his receivers to arrive at the spot where he was throwing to, rather than trying to wait that extra second to see them come open. Those offseason workouts with his receivers seem to be paying off. And he was disciplined. Rather than pulling the ball down and scrambling as he normally would, he stayed in the collapsing pocket, knowing he was going to get hit, and delivered strikes.

And shout out to Mike Debord. He unveiled the offense against the gators, and it was most impressive as he owned Geoff Collins.

Well done.

We made them use 1/2 the 8 min they had left. Wanted to keep them out too but that drive was the ONLY thing they did in the entire 2nd half. Impressive job by our O & D alike. Watched the game last night.

I was very happy with the prevent-D. My son was a little beside himself about it, but I explained: "We are forcing them to trade clock for yards. Up by 17, we have yards to spare. They don't have clock to spare."

It was much better than an aggressive D with the potential of giving up big yardage quickly.

We let them slowly bleed to death, and it was a great strategy.

i remember thinking the same thing. while i was admittedly frustrated with that drive, i found myself thinking...wow, they're taking up a lot of clock....so while i hated giving up the score, the silver lining was that it drained the clock big time.

This was the first time I can remember it seemed we understood how to run a prevent D. Cudos to Shoop.
Total class by jones not to run up the score at the end of the game. As a fan I wanted the points. Jones was correct in taking the knee and protecting the ball.

Lol we did make a last minute dash to the end zone after a long huddle on the sideline with Butch. In his post game show he said it was because we couldn'the take a knee and burn clock. I liked it.
