What if we still make it to the SEC Championship game and come out of it with a W. Will everyone look back at these past couple of days and laugh? Does that suddenly solve all the problems?

if's and buts, candy and nuts. the TN team that showed up Saturday didn't look like a team that had much to play for.

conversely the FL team i saw play Saturday looked like it knew what it had in front of them.

No. The problems are in the "process". The result only magnifies them.

Moonwalking into the SEC Championship game will not fix the problems. There is something fundamentally wrong with this team and it starts with Butch.

Hmm, this thread is ahead of schedule. Usually takes posters until Wednesday to get over a loss and claim we win the SEC. Lol.

Evolution...

I wouldn't say it starts there... it ends there. He has to own the whole program but things can happen and therefore changes need to be made. It's up to him to make those changes... I'm waiting to see

OC needs to go would be a big step

What if Florida loses to Arkansas, Kentucky beats UGA then comes to Knoxville inspired and wins? Then Florida would almost certainly lose to LSU with our luck. Then boom UK to Atlanta. How would that make you feel?

I don't think the W you wrote means that you think it means.

People can call me a negavol, but the last thing I want is to backdoor our way into the SEC title game. We don't deserve to be there, and getting in because everyone else in the division sucks just as bad is not appealing.

And even IF we win the SEC title, I don't see that doing anything but reaffirming to Butch that "the process" is working. We will stay stagnant. Things need to change if we want to have a shot at a national title. Backdooring our way to Atlanta just gives Butch reason to not make any staff changes.

we're not going to Atlanta this year.

a) i'm not sure FL will lose.
b) i'm not sure we're done losing.

If this happens the problems ARE SOLVED! Get a grip people, If we win out and we beat Bama; we achieved all but one goal (CFP) for the year, SEC east champ, SEC CHAMP, beat FL, GA AND BAMA in the same season. IF AND I MEAN IF we do it, I would give three sh!@#$ about loosing to SC!

I don't want to lose another game but I also don't want to go to Atlanta. We just do not deserve it. Making it there at 9-3 is a consolation prize, and the last thing I want is Butch having any sort of notions that what he is doing is working. Because it is not.

Staff changes and scheme changes need to be made. Something has to happen. Because we have shown severe regression from last year, especially on offense. We have been injured on defense, so I will give that a pass, but I still haven't seen much of the Shoop effect.

All I can say, is that if Mike DeBord and possibly even Mahoney are still on staff next season, I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars to watch us run right, run left, pass short of the line to gain, and punt, regardless of how badly I want to see Guarantano.

Offense has been bad. I think Shoop has done a good job with the hand he has been dealt.

I would be extremely happy if this team did all that. Not sure how its even remotely possible for UT to beat Bama though.

This. Look this is a fantasy thread, and the way our team looked Saturday it has no chance of winning in ATL even if the Gators lose to Ark and LSU. But that said, if the team did win out and then shock the world with an upset over either LSU or Bama in the Championship game and won the SEC Title, there better not be anyone complaining. You play for titles, and if we win in ATL we are SEC Champions, period.

if you remember, that was Phil's biggest problem at the end. "just enough" would happen that you could point to and say "see, we're almost there".

when nothing was further from the truth. strangely feels like that right now.

anywho...we're not winning the East, and as long as this team continues to do stupid things on the field by way of turnovers and penalties, any game, save this saturday, is a toss up. that, and as long as we aren't feilding a fully healthy team to boot.

the hard truth is, this team is just as capable of losing to anyone as it is of beating anyone. the same team that blows out VT and FL gets blown out at home against Bama and lays eggs against a bad USCe team.
