What if Jalen realizes how foolish he decision is:

What if all you on here realize it was a great decision on his part if he goes somewhere else and shines , and has a long NFL career?

One of the top rushers in UT history, playing behind probably the worst o line of anyone in the top ten, for a coach who has no idea how to utilize the talent he has!

A damn good player, that the only foolish part of his decision is he didn't do it sooner!

Another paper win for Butch , all his stars looked good for butch's recruiting class even though Butch new he didn't fit his "system"

🤔🤔 there is no room in the UT locker room for egos and Jalens was huge!! Blame the coaches all ya want but this he nothing to do with coaches. This was a decision he had been pondering from the end of last year and he did not give us 💯% at any point this year. There was a huge very noticeable difference in his performance from the last 2 years and this year. His teammates got tired of it and Dobbs even approached him about it when he refused to play DURING the game in Columbia and he was told he was done to F off. Again that has nothing to do with the staff thats solely on his shoulders!! Even his mom come out and said she didn't agree with his decision and hated it, ya think if the staff caused it she would still want him here???? I'll answer that for ya NO!!!! But go ahead and keep blaming the coaches.

For the sake of argument: If Jalen realizes his decision was selfish and impulsive; and he agrees to toe the line from here on. Can we / would we be able to keep him on the team?

Before I get blasted...Im not saying he would, or we should, etc...Im simply looking for debate.

Remember that this is a young kid that may have just made a rash decision that could very well change his course in life.

He won't. To much pride and the locker room would be split

Hey VFL34 question, do we have a problem or are we developing a problem in the locker room with chemistry between the staff and players? Do the players like our staff or are they unhappy? I've read posts with "rumors" and seen all these social media comments from players and former players and well honestly I can't decipher and come to a conclusion.

If this had been a one time thing then maybe so. But from what we are being told, he's behaved like this since high school. There's lapses in reason and then there's habitual behaviors.

this decision ain't that big of a deal when compared to what many people have to deal with due to their decisions...its football...he can get change careers early in life and still be successful...it may help him grow up some, too

I guess he POSSIBLY could come back but I seriously doubt he would be willing to complete everything required of him to EARN his way back onto the team, this would never be "hey welcome back and things are back to normal"... He probably has done irreparable damage to himself as far as this team is concerned and if he wanted to play at all in 2017 now would be the time to start his Pentance and working his way back and I do not see that happening. Contrary to popular believe they're really are consequences to your actions and decisions and sometimes the reality of that can be a cold slap in the face. Enter one Jalen Hurd...really sad ending...at this point. But VolNation loves a story of redemption AND SO DO I. I would love to see a storybook ending but alas that is usually reserved for fairytales.
Just to be clear I am heavily in favor of REDEMPTION...after all I have been REDEEMED!!!

You want a guy next to you in the trenches who quits? I wouldn't.

The only thing to ponder now is who gets the #1 jersey next year.

Hopefully no one. I've always seen this as a look at me number.

If the right man, with the right attitude wears it, I'm more than o.k. with it. No Flames old boy, just my opinion.:acute:

What i saw, confirmed by Seth Price, is Dobbs throw 2 interceptions. One led to a TD. One essentially killed any chance for us to win. He made 2 very poor reads. He threw into coverage. The defenders read his eyes and anticipated the passes. Hurd was a problem who was replaced by Jelly. Dobbs had his worst game this year. His inability to read and throw on time is a liability. His playmaking and running is a strength. The liabilities caught up with him Saturday night.
So using your logical, the only to players that should play next week are Kelly (or Jelly as you call him) and Barnett and Evan Berry....because EVERYBODY else in that game sucked. Yep Josh threw two picks, he also had a TD called back for holding, so he put us in a position to him. The issue is it takes no effort to point out his mistakes to argue he should be benched. It takes a little effort to point out others that played just as bad. Including the quitter that forced a true freshman that had no business being on the field in to the game. Defensive players leaving recievers wide open etc.

Did you read the write up by Seth Price?

Sometimes you get to live with the decisions you make. Even the really poor ones. His ship has sailed and he doesn't deserve to come back.

I think the locker room would have to decide to take him back at this point. I'm not saying it's impossible. But Butch can't force it on them. It would send the wrong message. You risk alienating your other RBs as well.

This...if things are as they are believed/assumed to be. That would have to be some humbling apology, though. I loved watching that kid run on a Saturday at Neyland...back when he WAS running. :loco:

If his team mates welcome him back, and if he wants to move to TE, then I say yes.

If his team mates welcome him back, what you and I say means Jack 5h1t. We are not on the team.

It ain't like he murdered someone, caused a major accident on I-40 driving like a maniac or drunk off his ass, or pulled a Mack Crowder. He hasn't been suspended for drugs as far as I know.

If he can swallow his pride and grow from this, I would want him back, even if it meant him staying means we miss on a 5 star on NSD.

Most Tennessee fans would welcome him back. And those who wouldn't don't matter anyway.
