What if Butch...

From what I've heard, his wife was wanting them to leave after last year. Similar situation to Counzo Martins wife. They just don't like living where their family is treated poorly. I don't blame her. It is, by no means, the entire fanbase but I wouldn't wanna deal with it either. My wife would have forced me to leave last year too lol. I think he's either fired or walks at the end of the year.

Well BJ needs to find a new line of work because there will always be public scrutiny at this level. Saban gets flamed everyday by a lot of people even as he is dominating!

I believe I would tell my wife of 23 happy years, that she is gonna have to get used to being a coaches wife and taking some heat for a few Million a year.......

Pro style offenses are not overly gimmicky but I am not sure how many players would buy into his Richard Simmons approach to coaching. An 18 year old, still a little naive high schooler is one thing but a grown man in his mid to late 20's is quite another.

Think you are on to something. Those daily phone calls they supposedly are having could contatin those type discussions

I'm gonna listen to Charlie Rich's "Behind Closed Doors". Convinced that there isn't anyone who has a damn clue what's going on over our coaching dilemna. Ever since GT we're steadily going downhill. We lost JJ that game and he couldn't win games alone but he was tough and somewhat vocal. UT could use some stand-up guys to lead that are outspoken like permanent captains. T.Smith, J.Kelly on O. KMac and Gaulden on D. Seldom do you see any emotion on the sideline. If anything there's a lack of energy. For some reason the Florida game seems to have impacted this team. They weren't over matched going there and many felt we had the better team. There's too many things "not going our way" they seem to combine and make it a major deal; when it's all said and done it's a bunch of little things adding up. That's what coaches are for...to sort these matters out.

One thing that could be done immediately is to get our OL and DL in tip-top shape and keep them that way and keep recruiting good linemen and let coach Rock bulk 'em up. That's the core of this teams future. Glad to hear Shy is feeling well. Hope Cade Mayes and Corvin both come here too. We have good DLinemen here already and more coming. Absolutely no reason this team should not be getting better. I have to think that CBJ's scheme is getting into their heads and confusing them and they're losing confidence in the system he calls "infallible". Something of that nature has to be occurring plus the fact that he's out of his league in the SEC. We're not developing players at a rate necessary to be competitive and that the worst reflection on our head coach over 5 years. Fans expect more considering how much he's paid. I'm certain he's stuck on his offense that he learned under B.Kelly and feels pressured to prove that it can work but that's where the disconnect begins with the fans....we don't see the results on the field or in wins so to us IT AIN'T WORKIN'....FIX IT !!

Why do you care? You want him gone anyway.

I said previously our worst case scenario is he saves his job then pulls a Dooley and we scrambling for a coach after good ones taken...

of course we want him gone, but one option saves us millions of dollars. It doesnt take a Josh Dobbs to figure that out....

Why not just let him stay until he leaves or his contract is up. At this point with our history of hiring coaches, is it really going to make a whole lot of difference.

I thought it was 40 before you’re a man!

...doesn't want to be coach at Tennessee next season?

All of these debates to fire him or not to fire him but has anyone considered he might not even want to be here?

Is it true that he was pursuing the Purdue job last year?

I'm not saying this is what's really going on but I think we can all agree that something seems to be off this year.

I agree the Tennessee team seems off; however last year Tennessee had the best team they have had in a long, long, long time an they still lost to SC and Vandy.

The team he has this year isn't even close to the talent Butch had last year.....so it is no real surprise they aren't doing great..........the real surprise is how bad they are playing, and how undeveloped the talent looks.

Butch knew he was on the hot seat. He also knew what the 2017 team looked like................he wanted to get out before he got fired. The main prob I have with him is he knows his job is in jeopardy and the coaching hires/promotions, and coaching decisions (on the field) look plain stupid.......especially for a guy coaching to save his job.

One might wonder if he was trying to get fired, but that is not the case. In no way would he try and ruin or even hinder his career..........that would cost him millions, and a lot of time to try and regain his rep.................to me it is simply him.........he is just not that good of a coach.

I’m pretty sure it’s understood he doesn’t want to coach here.

Ryan Callahan on 247 said he put out feelers last year.

Reminds you of the Dooley move after the Kentucky game when he quitely snaked his way into the AD and asked for his buyout.
