What if at halftime

I have decided to not expect it to happen. So if it does I will be uber excited. I am now hoping that Gary Patterson becomes our next Big Orange Pumpkin on our sidelines....because he is a winner....PERIOD.....and he'll bring Randy Shannon which is a bonus too!

Couldn't agree more. If Gruden doesn't come and the chances are slim at best, then this is the guy.

Like Larry said a couple of days ago, he will need some big time recruiting help here, but the guy can coach, just ask Texas.

The longer this drags out, the more I'm convinced it will not be Gruden but a coach that hasn't fininhed the season yet, and that isn't a bad thing. I think Gary Patterson, Bob Stoops, or a number of other coaches would be just as good for the program as Gruden. I'm just anxious to see the Vols winning again.

I had a dream the other night, where it was the UK game, and they put on the Jumbotron a video.

It started out saying "Coming to Tennessee in 2012..." and then it started at his feet, and went up, and when it got to his neck it went dark, and then he said "Hey Volnation. Let's do this." And then it went bright on him, Raheem Morris, and Tee Martin.

Just saying. Would be incredible.

Cool dream bro.

I had one where I was driving illegal immigrants to an Emergency room then was yelling at Urban Meyer on the golf course as Airwolf crashed into the water hazard. Dang Nyquil and whiskey!

Not happening. I predict an announcement on December 21st. The Mayan calendar predicts a major change. Perhaps it is a lift of the curse on the Tennessee Vols.

Stoops would be rad. I hold out hope for that just because I know how crappy Norman OK is and OK in general. Remember, Oklahoma is ...OK..not good. He might decide he would enjoy seeing some Trees and no tornadoes while coaching in the fall.

Why would yall want Gruden as new coach? His head coaching record is only 95-81 @.540 %. He won the super bowl with Tony Dungy talent. The 2 years after his S.B. win he went 12-20. He finished his career @ T.B. with a 57-55 record @.509 winning percentage. He has not proven he can recruit in college and has not really proven he is a good judge of talent in the pros. I personally want Tenn. to be a strong team in the S.E.C. so when my Gators beat yall it helps our s.o.s. :) Just my 2 cents worth, hire a proven winning head college coach, even if yall have to borrow money to do so.

Stoops would be a great choice. At first I thought Gruden would be the best choice, but then I looked on Wikipedia. He really hasn't done that much. Nothing at the college level. Remember Spurrier and Saban? The years after the Super Bowl win weren't really his fault though. He wasn't able to draft the talent he wanted due to salary caps, and the Bucs had a lot of injuries. Gruden does have ties to TN,what with his wife being from there, and he was a graduate assistant also.

What I hate about VolNation

KrispyKreme had agreed to sponsor orange pants for gary patterson... Their donut sales would be doubled is their thought!

What I love about VolNation

Yeah, but what if "Triple H" came out and announced John Gruden as the next HC at UT?

This place can go alternately between tragic and hilarious, thoughtless and thoughtful, hostile and benign and that's in posts from the same thread as the above are.

This is my list for the Tennessee Head Football coaching opening:

1. Jon Gruden-may not be the best choice, but this hire would really excite the Vol Nation and give recruiting a big boost! He would probably stay 2-3 years. Remember he is an NFL guy.

2. Gary Patterson-he is a football coach. He gets more out of less than most coaches in the game today. I could see him winning big at Tennessee for many years to come!

3. Bob Stoops-a proven winner. Would he leave Oklahoma? Maybe, maybe not. We should ask and see. He is also a proven winner and I could see him winning big at Tennessee for many years!

4. Charlie Strong-he's a program builder. Look at what he is doing at Louisville.

5. Jimbo Fisher-some say he is not happy at Florida State or may want to look elsewhere. Let's ask him. He is a great recruiter.

There are many more really strong candidates, but I believe this would be a good start to work from.

Gruden is the only one that we could introduce at the Tennessee game this Saturday. If that is what you want to do, then go for it! Recruiting would start immediately! The others coaches are not going to be available until after their bowl games. How will that harm recruiting this year? Short term vs. long term.

Either one of these coaches would be a better choice than Gruden
