Just watched a replay of the game last night. It's not that fact that we lost, but the way we lost. I absolutely HATE how we can looked so good one play, then like crap the next. It is not even that we looked all that bad, it is just we looked bad at the most inopportune times. Fumbled snap on 3rd down, unable to convert pass attempts, 3 missed field goals, no half-time adjustments, poor play calling....UGH.

I agree.

Does anyone else feel like we rush our plays? It feels like we go from 1st and 10 to 4th and punting with surprising speed.

Actually what disappointed me most was the fact we didn't challenge the Freshman Corner more. We threw at Verner alot and hes a PAC 10 All American. What Gives? Freshman corner in first game vs PAC 10 All American. We hit 3 good passes on that side and we broke two good runs to that side as well. Why keep trying the left so much?

I am still looking for that great offensive line that we have heard so much about. I didn't see it on Monday night. Maybe they didn't make the trip. I thought we were go to spread the field on offense (but not when we are punting) and open the offense up. I didn't see that either. I didn't anything new on offense. If the offense is one of our strengths, then we are in for a long season.
Why don't we make adjustments at halftime? UCLA did and once again Phil was out coached. In the fourth quarter we when into the prevent defense (or Mustang package as it's called) and all that does is to prevent us from winning. I hate to say it,but based on what I saw Monday night we are in for a very long season. If we that the Florida and Alabama games were bad last year just wait until we play them this year. If we can't stop a third string quarterback what do you think will happen with Tebow. And the way Alabama dismantled Clemson what do you think that will do to us. I think that we will lose to Fla., Auburn, Ga., Ala., and perhaps at least to one of the other three SC,. Vandy, and Kentucky. We have struggled against these teams lately. I hope not, but i think that we will finish at best at 6-6. Does anyone agree with any of this?

Volfantic (discussed long time fan)
I hate it for the players, but it will be our chance to get rid of Fulmer. We have had other coaches let go because the couldn't beat Ala (Battle and Majors) and now Fulmer can't be Florida our main rival no matter who the coach is. They have had three different ones lately and i think he has only one victory. Besides that since we won the championship in 98, Florida has one twice. What does that tell you?:bad

I really think this is Phil's last year. His wife has went on record to say that she wishes he would have retired after the BCSCG. And has said numerous times since then. I think the Big Tuna announces his retirement after the UCSe game. Just a feeling. I never thought for a second he was gone last year or even in 2005. But, I think he has had enough, he's tired and done.

Didn't you hear? It was a Trap Game according to Phil. The team was obviously looking forward to mighty UAB and the bye week.

The lack of half-time adjustments is inexcusable. It's one thing if you fail to make adjustments between drives but someone is sleeping at the wheel when you have time in the lockerroom to specifically address weakeness and they don't get addressed.

we have absolutely beaten the halftime adjustments, which are massively overhyped, to death.

We went into prevent mode and they capitalized on it, as have many in our history.

That is coaching. Besides not running the ball enough, if you are going to have a QB pass 40+ times in his second career start, at least take advantage of these mismatches that we heard him allegedly do when he was at Richmond. There were mismatches all over the field Monday and I don't think we took advantage of one.

Some kind of adjustment was obviously made regarding the Bruin's quarterback. Going into the half he looked totally shellshocked. Out of the locker room in the second half he changed his entire approach, looking composed and efficient. Give credit to either the kid or to coaching.

i've been wondering the same thing to myself before anybody said anything about it. i'm sure there were other mismatches we failed to capitalize on also. just hope we can get better at it. i wont bash anybody...

I tried to watch the game again on ESPN but only lasted the first offensive series, which ended in a fumbled snap and foreshadowed things to come.
