This is shaping up as remarkable. What high school kid would not consider playing for Tennessee with the high profile coaches that are coming to Rocky Top?

Bottom line, if your goal is to go to the NFL, you're gonna head to TN to get the coaching they offer.

Ones that see what Saban, Meyer, Miles, and Richt are already doing as opposed to "hopefully doing".

This "Tennessee will prepare you for the NFL" talk is overrated. Sure it gets the fans excited and some recruits to know that we have this kind of staff, but it isn't like schools we're competing with for these kids aren't already pumping out pro prospects like crazy. We're the ones trying to play catch up.

Hey man, it's New Year's Eve. Let's be happy for the final night of 2008. We can all be realists tomorrow, k?

Actually, only Miami & Florida State have sent more players to the NFL in the last 10 years than UT has. So your assertion that we're playing "catch up" would officially qualify your post as uninformed.

There is no doubt our recruiting, especially on the defensive side of the ball, will step up. We can now hopefully get those dominant d-linemen again in the Haynesworth / Henderson mold.

if we don't do too much better next season, then you'll see a long list of them

While its true that the last couple years have produced less NFL talent, I have to believe that the chance for a defensive prospect to play for Monte or even an offensive prospect to play for Lane (given his USC ties and NFL-player factory while he was there) will give a definite boost to recruiting.

We don't have an entire staff of new coaches because of what happened "10 years ago". Check that same list over the past 5 years and see what you come up with. My post isn't uninformed, you're just living two eras ago in college football years. Miami and Florida State, in addition to Tennessee, are nowhere near Florida, Alabama, LSU, or Georgia in talent right now.

Probably 90% of the posters on here will agree with me on this one. 80 of that 90% are also those that knew we needed a coaching change almost 10 years ago.

I would be willing to bet that percentile were in grade school then.

Again, I think you are quite uninformed. My post didn't talk about what happened "10 years ago." It was "over the past 10 years." There is no question we had plenty of NFL talent over that time span, the problem was that CPF was not getting nearly enough production as he should of out of his talented players (see Brandon Warren this year).

There is no question we needed a coaching change starting a few years ago. But it has not nearly as much to do with the talent we brought in as much as how we coached that talent.

So again, your first post rings untrue. I will also have to agree with Volger that if you want to say that 90% of people agree with you, you should add "90% of posters on here under the age of 10...."

:eek:k:
