What HC would you compare CLK too?

Maybe this. My problem with the Spurrier reference was that it was all about him. I get the feeling that LK is in charge and wants to take the public heat but also delegates well to his assistant coaches (and wants assistants that could take his job).

I think he'll tone down the smack talk once he gets established.

Do you really think this? If he talks smack for no reason, I think he'll really amp it up "once he gets established."

It's just his personality, IMO.

Steve Spurrier about 15 years ago.

Except Spurrier would rather golf than recruit. Kiffin loves recruiting. Young Spurrier was the best offensive coach in CFB. CLK is not quite there---YET. Spurrier's QB tutoring is historical---but Steve is a little lazy with the other facets of College coaching. Tennessee's staff as a whole may be the best----ever.

He is unique, but has traits like many greats. That is the way all great coaches are. Unique, but have similar traits. Watch an interview of the great coaches. They are not trying to impress, only focused on winning, and they don't freaking apologize...This is Kiffin.

Kiffin stands alone... I've never seen a coach (not even Spurrier) come in and ruflle feathers the way Kiffin has. I like it because A: He's our coach and B: He's starting to turn UT back into a winning program that no-one wants to play. I think he'll jump back to the NFL he brings Tennessee a NC or maybe two... Hopefully he'll be like Pete Carroll & stick around longer but I really think we better enjoy this while we can....

Quite frankly, and I recognize my bias, a mixture of Bob Knight, Pete Carroll, and Spurrier.

A pretty good tonic for what has ailed us of late.

Oh yes, I was and remain a fan of CPF and thank him for what he brought to UT in his time.

As to Coach Knight, go back and look at what folks were saying about him when he came from West Point to Indiana...very similar remarks, and he pissed off more folks in the Big Ten and NCAA than CLK can shake a stick at. Honest to God that is who he has reminded me of this season...especially the "stare down" across to the bama sidelines when the headphones mysteriously went dead. Vintage Knight.

GO VOLS

I think it's about getting PR for the team. Once it's established the need goes down.

The unique thing for me about CLK is his central focus on the TEAM. All of his outlandish comments, public posturing, motivational ploys have one audience - The Players.

I can't think of a single other coach that does that.
