Uhh.. how do you know they are removing people based solely on speech? There were 1,000 people chanting "Fire Currie". Why did that kid get singled out? Come on.. use common sense. No, the University threatening to remove fans for speech based on its content (which was neither vulgar nor threatening) is embarassing. This is not China or North Korea.
Ok, so what is the cop supposed to do? Let the drunk kid run back onto the court? Take your "Fire Currie" blinders off FFS.
Unfortunately, the situation does have that feel to it. Let's hope neither happens.
While I agree that making one's thoughts known to those in charge is a good idea, there comes a point when it goes too far and ends up creating even more damage to the UT brand than has already been done.
This is what Currie is having done to people who are chanting fire Currie. They are all currently getting thrown out of the game. By force in some cases.
I do agree with that. But at the end of the day police still have to do their job. And when they second guess their own actions in the heat of the moment, it can be a life or death decision. Wasn't here.. just saying.I 1000000% agree...but if people don't think that this can get spun and used against us, thy just haven't watched any news...that's all I'm saying...
