What happens if Harrison Bailey transfers out after this year.

You answered your own question.... He is number 2 when he and everyone knows he should be starting. Not given a fair shake and option of JG coming back next year I would transfer too.
We have had a very limited sample of Bailey. I would go with him because we know what jg brings. At least if we lose and Bailey is QB pruitt can say he is grooming him to be great next year. Waiting til next year to get bailey his breaking in will cost the vols next year too.
Teams are going to do what they did when chump was at Florida. Play no risk offense. Score 20 points and the vols offense will give them more with at least turnovers with good fiend position if not points outright.
I think after a half a dozen starts the vandy kid is probably the 4th or 5th best QB in the conference.
He is going to give the vols defense fits.
Wish Bailey would have at least started after the Kentucky game.

Maurer leaves regardless. Shrout still being here this season smacks of non-football reasoning.
If JG stays there’s an 80% chance Maurer leaves. If he doesn’t that chance decreases significantly. In fact, the ONLY reason he’d leave anyway is if Pruitt remains. Brian likes his chances against HB in a fair competition for reasons unforeseen to the masses.

With the one time transfer rule, I wouldn't be surprised if Shrout and Maurer both transfer.

Im guessing JG comes back.

So we would have JG, HB, and Salter.
You could be right. Shrout though seems to be satisfied. Not sure why.

When Pruitt is standing in a press conference talking about waiting for Bailey to give him "the look" that signifies his readiness to play, what realistic expectation does Maurer have that there will be any actual QB competition?

There won't be under the Gump.

While reading about everyone making fun of us for being scared of vanderbilt, I came across several mentions of HB transferring out. One mentioned Florida as a destination. So what happens to the coach that will be the first coach at Tennessee to lose 7 in a row by double digits? Then loses his 5 star freshmen qb that he will not play to our hated rivals. We even Got bumped on the sechdule for missu and vanderbilt. Life long vol fan, I can't believe it has gotten this bad.
Transferring to a school where he will get to play is HB's best bet. Because of the stupidity of our current staff, BH will continue to be a benchwarmer for another year because of JG. BH move on before your career is over!!!

Pruitt has never given me the impression there will ever be a fair competition at all no matter who’s involved. I think he bases his opinions on personal feelings tbh because he clearly falls short in qb evaluation to give anything that can be considered an EDUCATED guess as to who gives us “The best chance to win”.

Bye bye.

If they pass that this Jan I think you're going to see a bunch of kids portal out and NOT get picked up and looking for a home. Rosters are going to be maxed out next year and teams will only be looking for team specific needs and those fill up pretty quickly at power5 schools. I think they might postpone that decision just because of the total mess the NCAA eligibility center is already facing because of the Covid changes to eligibility. There have definitely been several transfers that have succeeded but in the long run unless it's a specific team need I think coaches steer clear of most of the players in the portal.
Returning seniors with expired eligibility under normal circumstances won’t count against the 85. Not being factored into the proposed waiver is that transfers still have to fit under the 25 man classes.

I should’ve included this in my last response but how everyone is feeling now that Pruitt is exposing himself is merely catching up to how I’ve felt since the day I watched a bold faced lie coming out of practice reports two years ago. Pruitt is not only uneducated in qb evaluation but he’s the most dangerous kind of uneducated. He is too proud to admit he doesn’t know and therefore will NOT move on from his original opinions. Instead he’d rather ”wait” to be right” no matter the consequences of the team. So how would he know what “The look” looks like to begin with?

Gonna be a bunch of players nobody wants if they pass the 1 year transfer rule this Jan. I'm for the rule I just think it benefits the programs more than it does the kids. I think the portal will eventually look very similar to MLBs supplemental draft whereas a few quality players get picked up while the rest become obsolete. I think Clemente is one of the few MLB supplemental draft success stories in history.

Crazy conspiracy theory number 87 for your enjoyment.....
Defenders on opposing teams are being told by their coaches NOT to put too hard of hits on JG That would force him out of the game and bring in a QB who could actually beat them.
thoughts? 😛
Wouldn't shock me😂

JG needs to transfer to where ever Pruitt ends up.

I said this last year, but JG should transfer to Western Kentucky. He was much better suited for Helton's offense than Chaney's. I'm not saying JG will be a superstar there or anything, but he was much better in 2018 under Helton than this year or last under Chaney. He still might flop even there, but he has a better chance for success. Obvious to everyone other than Jeremy Pruitt that he's a trainwreck here.

I'd actually say the same thing about Shrout. Shrout would be better with Helton, but I don't think Shrout is transferring. He loves it in Knoxville and I think he's fine with being a backup QB.

Trevor Hoffman a HOF for Miami’s picks.

Based on what exactly?

HB will transfer IF JG announces he is staying another year.
Bailey knows that there is favoritism being shown here for whatever reason and will go play for a coach that recognizes and plays the better player.

Yes, the better player right now doesn't necessarily mean the guy that "gives you a better chance of winning". That quote is all based on body / amount of work and if no one else has played then no one else gives you a chance to win...aight?

I'm not sure either.

I'm not saying he is great, but he really hasn't been given a fair shake when he gets playing time.

Pruitt keeps him on a short leash.

Because of that, I'd transfer if I wanted playing time.

I doubt he gets a shot while at UT.
