What happens if Harrison Bailey transfers out after this year.

I believe UT can beat Florida, but they’d have to make the QB, either JG or Bailey, as irrelevant as possible. Simple throws, strong run game, control the clock with 8-9 minute drives and hope your defense plays their best game of the year. If you have designs on either UT QB going out and winning the game through the air with sophisticated routes and threading the needle passes, I think UT will get in trouble. While it’s true UF’s defense has been very porous at times this year, they still lead the SEC in sacks.

Florida’s worst performances this year have been on the road; defense couldn’t stop anything at Ole Miss, lost on a last second FG at aTm and screwed around and played lethargic at Vandy. If that continues, UT can make Florida pay.

Eric Gray is good, UT’s run blocking is good (at times), so they should play to those strengths. If UT goes out and tries to become Tyler Bray to Patterson/Hunter all the sudden, it’ll get ugly.

On the flip side, UF’s offense, with Kyle Trask throwing to Kyle Pitts back, and an emerging WR group in general, plus Kadarius Toney and three solid RB’s, I’m not sure UT can do any better than UGa or anyone else this year. Hell, I think UF could spend the whole game throwing 50/50 balls to Pitts mixed in with 7 or 8 touches for Toney, and win a shootout against everyone they play.

But they can always have an off game, which means UT can win it.
UT can't beat UF with JG. I'm not saying they will or can with someone else... just that they can't with JG. He's too limited and easy to defend even with mediocre defensive talent and coaching. Bailey showed the instincts of a good QB last game but needs reps.

So Coach Pruitt how's that thought process of JG gives us the best chance to win working out for you?

Our QB room will not be the same next year. Either JG is here and 1-2 of the other 3 transfer or JG leaves and the other 3 stay here.
IMHO, Maurer (who I like) will be gone after this season. He has enough talent to become a very good QB for someone. He's not going to get that chance under Pruitt.

JG needs to move on or become a GA.

I actually believe that we can beat Florida with Bailey and here is why.

First off, Bailey will allow us to become more balanced in our ability to run as well as pass the ball. Defenses currently load the box on us and dare JG to throw a pass, he is so easy to defend against when he telegraphics every throw, and they know a pic 6 is likely and will jump the route.

This team really is not as bad as the record indicates, it just needs a leader that will lead by example, not BS talk. Bailey is a "Gunslinger" much like Bray was, he has no fear of interceptions because he will come right back at you again, he expects to throw 5 TD a game. In one game, he threw for 6 TD in the first half!!!

He has the ability to "light it up" if Chaney will make the calls and our defense will fight if they know that the offense can put a bunch of points up on the board.

Pruitt, wake up man the train is leaving the station, save yourself and save the program, start Harrison Bailey get the future underway.

I think with Bailey, we would've beaten Kentucky, Auburn, and maybe Arkansas.

Don't see us beating Florida. Florida can easily put up 40+ points on us and no way our offense can generate that output right now, even with Bailey.

Really our only chance is if Florida plays it's worst game of the year, and has a bunch of turnovers, that give us cheap scores.

Maurer leaves regardless. Shrout still being here this season smacks of non-football reasoning.

OP step away from the ledge. Bailey would be an idiot to transfer. He has a crappy QB in front of him. He will be our starter. He just needs to be able to read the defensive set better. That will come with time. Just because some of the insane people THINK we were going to lose to Vandy doesn't mean we will. Fans should be made fun of for freaking out about Vandy. The game getting bumped this weekend had nothing to do with us. It was about everyone trying to get in as many games as they can this year. Mizz was not going to be able to do that if they didn't play this weekend. We have time to make up the Vandy game. Hope this helps with you panic attack.
But that „crappy QB“ if front of him now has a sixth year. Based on Pruitt‘s stubbornness, HB might not start until September 2022. he would a be crazy not tonst least be weighing his options.

You may be right. But I don’t think Bailey or anyone else on the roster gives them a batter chance.

While reading about everyone making fun of us for being scared of vanderbilt, I came across several mentions of HB transferring out. One mentioned Florida as a destination. So what happens to the coach that will be the first coach at Tennessee to lose 7 in a row by double digits? Then loses his 5 star freshmen qb that he will not play to our hated rivals. We even Got bumped on the sechdule for missu and vanderbilt. Life long vol fan, I can't believe it has gotten this bad.
No question Pruitt would be gone. Needs to be gone. Pruitt is not a Power 5 head coach. End of story.

Easily beaten Arkansas. They were ready.

HB will be here next year. This thread is so damn stupid. It makes me just not even want to read this site. Between the 900 fire Pruitt threads (yes he should be canned) and stupid rumors like this. It’s become garbage posts

What difference does it make? This program has a 5-6 win ceiling under this staff regardless of who we recruit, who transfers in or out. Right now the only concern is getting the right head coach and by extension, the right AD.
How did they win 8 games last year then?

Why would any of them stay, they have to see that a HC change will come within the next 2 seasons?

Did you mean "better"?

Completely disagree. Just the "unknown" makes one of the others a more difficult task for UF. JG doesn't lead receivers into catches. He does not anticipate coverages or openings well at all (that's why pretty much all of his deep success is along the sideline). He has a slow release. He does not make reads quickly. Too often he stares receivers down or gives plays away with his posture and eyes.

He's a guy who does most things "textbook" which explains why he looks good in practice. It just doesn't translate.

If JG starts, UF will have a field day. You could set a record for sacks in a game.

Would you stay if you were HB with a free transfer, or hell BM or JS?

Crazy conspiracy theory number 87 for your enjoyment.....
Defenders on opposing teams are being told by their coaches NOT to put too hard of hits on JG That would force him out of the game and bring in a QB who could actually beat them.
thoughts? 😛

One time exemption expected to pass in January.
If they pass that this Jan I think you're going to see a bunch of kids portal out and NOT get picked up and looking for a home. Rosters are going to be maxed out next year and teams will only be looking for team specific needs and those fill up pretty quickly at power5 schools. I think they might postpone that decision just because of the total mess the NCAA eligibility center is already facing because of the Covid changes to eligibility. There have definitely been several transfers that have succeeded but in the long run unless it's a specific team need I think coaches steer clear of most of the players in the portal.

Nobody said that...

Florida is closer to Maurer's family.
I didn't say jack about Bailey going there.

And BTW, Kyle Trask was a 2 star.

Stop judging our QBs talent by our crappy player development and coaching decisions.
Chaney hasn’t had that issue at any time other than now. So, I’m going to go with crappy talent.

Agreed. Bailey would atleast add the unknown to UFs gameplan and they would be forced to gameplan for a playbook/tendencies with JG. Who knows, maybe when the lights come on during the game and Bailey starts dropping dimes/looking off DB's/anticipating the open windows to throw though before the receiver breaks/etc. and starts looking like a QB that deserves to play. It will be a big advantage for at least a half before they can make any real big adjustments to their gameplan.

IMO, JG looks good in practice because it is a controlled environment and I would venture to say that the coaches go easy on him when they scrimmage. I personally think that much is obvious. Just my opinion on that practice God. What should be happening, is Good on Good (if you can call it that at this point) should be throwing everything at each other in practice and getting better by forcing everyone and their mother to communicate and get better. Pruitts scheme hasn't changed much, if at all, and year 3 should just be bringing the Freshman up to speed and everyone else getting a refresher and building on what they already know so there should be little thinking and more reacting. A 5th yr QB, should be an asset and not a liability.

With the one time transfer rule, I wouldn't be surprised if Shrout and Maurer both transfer.

Im guessing JG comes back.

So we would have JG, HB, and Salter.
