What happened with Kendrick? Concussion rumors (merged)

Lol no it's not. Not everything you disagree with is "fake news"

Direct quote from the article, "It is unclear when and what Jones knew himself." This article is as click-bait as it gets, having a title implying Butch's culpability and then deep in the article stating that there is actually no evidence that Butch knowingly played a concussed player.

Now it in no respect clears him either, he may very well have known the whole time, but it's no indicator either way. I just think the whole fanbase is anxiously looking for any way to get him gone as soon as possible, and this writer knows he can get more views through framing the scenario around Butch.

What might be the saddest part of all this is that a concussed Kendrick was still blocking exponentially better than a healthy Drew Richmond.

If it's not supported by a cited verifiable source of evidence, it's unsubstantiated click bait.

Speculation, rumors, unnamed sources, and etc. are not evidence.

Beauty of our system is that accusations and allegations aren't enough. There has to be proof. A distinction millennial reactionaries don't quite grasp. A bit early for all these childish tantrums isn't it?

The truth is that Kendrick did in fact have a concussion during the Kentucky game.

and Richmond playing ahead of his backup against the wishes of the oline coach.

it is total sh$$ show over there

I don't see anything in the film clips that looks any different than any other game. When someone with a name at UT reports this, then I'll start listening. As long as it's anonymous sources, it doesn't carry much weight.

I've seen empty Neyland, go after the admin, go after the Pietro, the chancellor, the AD, look for things to justify firing Butch with cause, etc. There's no end to the intense dislike, venom, hatred some have for this coach. I've seen rumors and accusations, but I've yet to see proof these things you mentioned. Internet rumor and postings from anonymous posters doesn't qualify in my book. Show me anything other than rumor and I'm with you. Until then I'll presume innocence until proven guilty.

Personally, I want a change as well, but I recognize the good things he's done. Don't hate the man for being a bad football coach. He did his best....wasn't good enough and he will lose his job in the coming weeks, but I can't and won't get behind, go along with or support this rumor filled witch hunt....or as the kids today like to call it...."movement". Sorry kid but I'm not programmed that way.
The reality ship sailed when college coaches started making this kind of money. Crazy breeds crazy.

I say shut it down, salary cap coaches at $500k. If they don't like it, go to the NFL. Take the excess revenue and put into lowering tuition.

I don't care if they get rid of him with cause or not he just needs to go. even his former players at UC tweeted out about how they weren't surprised he hit a player at UT. so that's not just some anonymous poster online. I don't hate him for for being a bad coach. he was brought in to get a better roster, he did that, now it's time to go get a coach that can get those 4 and 5* guys to play like 5*. I hate a good "movement" as you call it as much as the next guy, but when you got a guy putting his players livelihood at risk, there's no place for that here or anywhere else. (btw I'm not a kid haha)

The only way this is a story is if the medical staff admit that Butch overruled them and played the player against their advice.

Kendrick suffered a concussion during the game. Fact.
He played until the final minute of the game. Fact.
He was left off the injury report on Monday. Fact.

Th kid lied about Leach. Took a vid of him in a dark room and said leach was forcing him to stay in their. It was the sports analyst kid.

Yeah craig james' son. I thought it was BS from the getgo. But, he did put him in an equipment closet I believe, and in typical Leach smartass fashion(which I love) he said something like, "I did what I was supposed to, put him in a dark place." I always resented the kid using daddy to start up a lynch mob against Leach. Any other athlete and it wouldnt have been an issue.

Thing is he didnt do anything as extreme as what is being, and has been (hurd) alleged with Jones. And it got him fired from a place he was a hero at. Also consider concussion awareness wasn't nearly at the level then that it is now.

I've rewatched the game, and its pretty sickening, and I aint just talking bout losing to Kentucky. I specifically watched Kendrick. He was obviously struggling with basic stuff, not just blocking, he looked concussed or wounded, or sick and feverish from a distance. Tell me how thats not noticed or talked about on the sidelines.

And go ahead and take into consideration that we are so thin at Offensive Line, probably thinner than anyone in power 5, and add in how notoriously untrusting Butch is of inexperienced players, how notoriously terrible he is at having backups coached up and ready to perform, and how Jones may have been coaching for his job....

Think about all that, and it dont look good.

Unless they can prove that he knew of the injury or should have known and did nothing to to stop it.

The head coach is ultimately accountable for everything that happens much like a captain of a ship.

Jones, right now, isn't strong enough to overrule the waitress at Waffle House. No one is going to have him tell them what to do that would jeopardize their career.

Tennessee fan base is delirious over this thing with Jones. All of these ideas and comments by "fans" is more embarrassing than Jones slogans.

I wish they would cap it, wish they could find some feasible approach that prevented extra dividends to coaches if there was a cap. But that would probably take a whole nother NCAA type entity. Sick of guys like sexton determining who goes where, and driving prices sky high, id much rather see the players and schools benefit than another 95 iq moron like Butch Jones.

Something needs to be done about it.

Unless Kendrick comes out and says "I told coach and Dr's I needed to go out, my head hurt, and coach said Shutup and go back in!" then this is all just rumor and will amount to nothing!

Innocent until proven guilty! Seems like I read that somewhere??

And yes I do want Butch Fired Yesterday!!

If true, and if Jones knew, then this is a contract nullifying situation. Not good at all for Butch.

lol same here. I couldn’t even focus on Kendrick bc Richmond was getting beat so bad. Did he have a concussion too?

The only way this is a story is if the medical staff admit that Butch overruled them and played the player against their advice.

It is a story if a player with obvious concussion symptoms was sent back into a football game, regardless of who catches the blame. Chris Low just said there are 7 or 8 people on the sidelines supposed to be policing concussions, along with a person in the booth, as well as referees who are instructed to watch for concussion symptoms.

Do you think the medical staff goes from player to player on the sidelines shining flashlights in eyes giving constant concussion checks throughout the game. They just walk around all willy nilly checking every guy as they come off the field?

I think it is up to the position coaches to spot erratic behavior such as this and it should be reported to get checked by them, it should never be up to the player. Good god, I got knocked out kickboxing with a brutal shin to the side of the head(or so they told me later) even after vomiting I still thought I was ok, and arguing, telling people how i was fine. I was the only damn person in attendance that thought I was fine.

Its should be the responsibility of other people to refer you to get concussion checks. Nobody "thinks" they have a concussion, especially not early enough to prevent further damage. I could especially see a Olineman not getting attention from the medical staff immediately since its not like they are the focus of the play, its different for qbs and rb and receivers, you kinda can spot the concussive collisions more easily.
