What happened today

Tennessee beat the worst team in the history of CFB. The team quit on Pruitt halfway through warmups. Pruitt is #1 on the hot seat.

Florida dominated and imposed their will in a blowout win against the best team ever in CFB history.

Therefore, Tennessee will lose to Florida and finish the season 1-12.
We can't make it to a bowl with that record and we already won 2.
So 2-10 😂

Short story. Drew Richmond should be on the bench for the rest of the season.

NEWSPAPER REPORT: we won 24 to 0. First shutout in 3 yrs. They had 134 yds TOTAL offense. They crossed the 50 yard line 2 times. Offense inside of 20 yd line 2 other times.
VOLNATION REPORT: we lost 62 to 0. Haven't even seen the end zone with a pair of binoculars. our 10 possessions 5 fumbles and 5 ints 22 penalties for 212 yards left us 1 total yard offense. 9 straight losses this year to go with the 12 next year TN is starting 21 game losing streak.
This is written in fun but sometimes that's what it sounds like on here.

nicely done.

Sorry guys I was at my wedding getting married so could someone give me a spark note version of the game against UTEP today?

Are you serious? The ole 'I was getting married' excuse.. Well that don't cut it here in VolNation. You have shown an extreme lack of dedication and selfishness by getting married on a weekend in which the Vols are playing.. You must be punished.. You must write in a post;

"I am sorry. I apologize to all my VolNation brethren, to Freak, to the players, the UT faculty, the students and last but not least, to David Keith. I promise to never miss another Vols game for any reason other than death, the cable went out in my man cave, I had to watch olympic synchronized swimming or they didn't play this weekend. This will never happen again."

You must write this 1000 thousand times..... Due to the extreme length of your post, special permission will have to be granted by Freak. Now, get busy....

I'll give a shot at an honest take OP
We won 24-0
We played sluggish and unispired but the game was never in doubt.

We shot ourselves in the foot several times. Mostly unexcusable penalties but given we had so few last week, I'm not ready to call it a trend.

Banks fumbled the ball on the goal line, trying to reach across while being tackled. But the staff was rotating every back trying to get them all prepared, so each one tried to shine with their opportunities. Maybe tried too hard.

Also rotated QB's trying to get KC prepared in case of a JG injury. This definitely prevented any rhythm and most likely cost us some points. But, once again, the game was never in doubt so it was used as a glorified practice.

Tldr; both lines still looked bad enough to have real concern and that's justified. But given the reasons listed above, we're probably not as bad as other threads are making us out to be.
Pretty good take.

To add a few notes.
Outgained UTEP by 375 yrds
Rushed for 350 at 7 ypc
JG was effective again at 75% on 16 att.

UT statistically dominated a bad football team. 2 turnovers, too many penalties and the QB rotation in the middle of the game (which is the most questionable thing I have) prevented that from being 38 - 0 or worse.

UTs still has issues most teams coming off 4-8 will.

WV showed where we were 3 weeks ago. UF is the next barometer for where you improved since then.

One of the most reasoned, rational assessments of a TN game I've ever read. What in the hell are you doing here Hoss?

We won, shut them out, allowed 134 total yards but we still suck and the team quit on Pruitt and we need to fire everybody. I think that's a good recap of what people said on here today.
Pretty sure he asked what happened, not what people said here, just sayin

LMAO. Good stuff. You left out the part about JG going 2 for 60 because he kept telegraphing his throws.

QB rotation in the middle of the game (which is the most questionable thing I have) prevented that from being 38 - 0 or worse.
And even though drops count against every QB, Johnson's was very uncharacteristic and odd. JG's percentage should have been even higher.

On Chryst. Guessing he was supposed to be in a series earlier but we muffed the punt, pushing his series into the 2 minute drill.
Coaches could've delayed the move for JG experience there, I agree.
But they just stuck with the plan and against UTEP, it was little to no damage, I guess.

As someone said in another post;
“If you gotta have a down game, better this one than next week. Pretty much sums up the way we played.”

Just got married and the first thing you do is check in on the Vols instead of doing “honeymoon things” 🙄

I'm grinning. I am doing some math from the time of the posting. Assuming Freaks's page adjusts for time zone, you are on your honeymoon posting at 1:20 am.

Remember that song, (Oh, that's bad) No, that's good?

You got married on a VOL football weekend. (Oh that's bad) If there is a bun in the oven, we all get it.
But it was just a cupcake game (Oh that's good)
Went on the honeymoon (Oh that's good)
But got up in the middle of the night to start a thread on VolNation.. that's ________ (fill in the blank, good or bad).

You should turn off your computer and give her a spark note version of the future...lol

Congrats on the wedding.

I understand the idea of getting him some reps and neither of the last 2 games were really ever in question, it just seemed odd they would roll him out there that early.

I'm hoping the plan revolves around the idea that they are extremely confident in where JG is even tho he has been limited in attempts thru 3 games.

Congrats....now you need to emphasis to your new bride that fall Saturdays are for UT football. Missing a game due to your wedding is legit but from now on Saturdays in the fall rules are: no garage sales, no shopping, wife to do list up to 30 min prior to kickoff, vaca only with tv/streaming available, great time for wife to set up girls trip, girls lunch/dinner, girls shopping.
