Heard something about moving to defense, but he's not going to play there. I remember him making some catches las year.

Yeah, he is still on the team. He was moved to a DB earlier this week.

I'm sure he requested to get moved because he didn't see himself getting much playing time at WR, behind the Trio. But this certainly changes the dynamics. Could easily be the starting slot WR, as they have ZR behind CP.
