What happened to Nick Lamaison?

I've heard he has a cannon for an arm just doesn't know the offense well enough or is not a good enough decision maker.

Guys, Lamaison has a legitimate shot as anyone else we have. He is in the process of learning the system and has to earn a spot and move up the ladder. That is the way it's done.

NL was never presented as the savior of the offense. He was brought in to fill a void which he's doing. He's effectively a Freshman with a bit more experience than a typical Freshman, but still new to this system and speed of play at this level. Perhaps he'll compete for play next year, perhaps not. It's a non issue at this time.

Nick is still on the team and is running the scout team as a QB. He was brought in as a warm body. He is not an legit option to be UT's starting QB.

If I remember my numbers correctly, NL threw for 3500 yds and 36 tds last season, yes I said season, in JUCO (considerably better competition the High School ball). That being said, I would have to argue that a person that can do achieve that should be able to hand the ball off and complete the "easy" passes that Crompton seems unable to do...food for thought.

If BJ Coleman was as good as HE thought he was, he would be our QB. Alas, he has an inflated ego, which we don't need here at Tennessee. I'm tired of people hyping up BJ and what he is doing against FCS defenses. Look at what Crompton did against WKU, which is an FBS team. Coleman's not that good, he won't play in the NFL, and he's the victim of his own pigheadedness. Not Kiffin's.

You couldn't be more wrong. Walkons, especially QBs are generally guys sub-D2 level because guys with serious scholarship offers most of the time go where the most scholly money is. In Lamaison we have a guy who would have set many JUCO records had he stayed another year and played very well. Giving the defense a good look is ESSENTIAL to game preparation.
