But if we blitz, they might hit the uncovered receiver running wide open. We might have given up easy touchdowns

This was a CLASSIC case of arrogance and overconfidence and not handling success the right way. We thought just bc we wear the power T, we were going to win, but got humbled nationally. Rat poison as one would call it

Hooker seemed out of the game as much as the defense. Missed so many throws he usually makes. I wouldn't put this loss squarely on the D, although they were total garbage. The O could have helped by converting, keeping the pressure on, and preventing SC from building more and more confidence. Doubt is powerful and an electric offense from UT would have made them doubt. We still could have overcome the defensive performance.

I think what happened between Banks and Hooker could have very well contributed to it.. maybe the guys were picking sides or something lol never underestimate young men behaving like teenage girls 😂 also, if they looked to Banks to tell them where to always be.. there you go 😂 that’s kind of essential, right? They need to get in a room and hash it all out, but they probably should have done that before Saturday

I'm so sorry, I have to accept responsibility for the entire fiasco. Tradition holds that I eat a Petro during the game, and last night I bought a pizza. I didn't think it would matter. Sorry I let Vol Nation down, it will never happen again!

I didn't even know what a Petro was until today. lol. Of course my heart is still aching from last night and my BVS is starting to pop up in spurts again.

31 points will win you most games. Defense couldn’t get one stop. If we could have just limited their scores we have more possessions, thus probably more scores

What happened?

GA was a beatdown
SC was a no-show

Our whole team pretty much flopped ESPECIALLY our D

IMO something divisive clearly happened BTS in that locker room surrounding J Banks

This is the flip side of our HC being a players coach. That’s what rebuilt our culture and got us here way ahead of schedule. But if Heup lets the guys handle discipline themselves on the flip side then SC is the result.

Don’t know if I’m right or wrong but that’s my sixth sense.

Either the lesson is learned and the rift gets fixed before Vandy or we’re looking at a similar outcome next week.

I think players have to step up but I also hope Heupel learned a valuable lesson here too.

Ultimately this is the players’ team and they either want to fix it or they don’t. It’s Heup’s job to make them want to fix it.

im not defending him, just a comment on how I was surprised him being leading tackler, shows how bad the team actually was.
I was embarrassed by the way he was acting.

I agree, something going on in the locker room. Just rumors, but have heard on some call in shows that there is something happening in the locker room. Jeremy Banks involved!

We simply need better defensive backs. I’m not sure that we have a single db that is talented enough to be starting in the Sec. They are simply too slow and not athletic enough to play man, and they lack the instincts to play zone coverage. Many of the completion’s Rattler had were under thrown and could’ve been picked off, but our dbs simply are not good enough to stay with sec receivers. Recruiting defensive backs has to be number one on Heupels to do list if he wants to be a true contender.

I’m not buying Huepel leaving to go to the NFL as a reason we sucked so bad. There are other coaches that have a prolonged proven record that would be in the pecking order before CJH. Lincoln Riley would be at the top of the list any potential NFL job. IMO Huepel hasn’t been successful enough to get the attention of the NFL yet. We just ran into the hottest QB on the planet that exploited the weaknesses we all knew we had and a DC that for whatever reason didn’t bring any pressure to make it difficult for him. It just blows my mind that at the college level when a team is smoking your D like that you do absolutely nothing different. It’s like in baseball if they keep hitting your fastball out of the park are you going to keep throwing the fastball or are you going to start throwing curves and change ups?

Our defensive backs gave nearly a 10 yard cushion before the snap of ball, and then retreated another 3-5 yards...Their receivers were wide open from the snap of the ball...Who in the hell designs this kind of defense?

Facts. The defense has been bad all year. No progression at all. After almost a whole season of reps there should have been at least a little improvement. It’s coaching above all else. Tim Banks and Willie Martinez are garbage. You can’t defend them anymore.

No insider,.so don't shoot the messenger but; I heard a "RUMOR" via The Boogie Bentley podcast, that Hooker and J.Banks had an altercation and the team split to defend whoever side they deemed appropriate, thus Banks not traveling with the team instead of the false injury reports. That could explain the worse than normal defense and overall lack of team chemistry.
