What GT fans are saying about 2017 game

History has shown that teams who have more time to prepare for Tech's offense, have much greater success than teams who only have a week to prepare. The Vols will have all of fall camp to prepare for the ramblin' wreck.

Last year the teams that had over a week to prepare for GT's offense were

Pitt (9 days) Ga Tech dropped 56 points

Miss St (33 days) Ga Tech dropped 49 points

T1st and 3rd highest scoring games for GT last season.

A lot of military members juice. It is not a regularly tested substance by the military.

Being at one of our military academies is like being in a perfect blend of military and university. The prohibitions of both cultures apply. Heck, when you're a cadet (or midshipmen) there, it seems like every prohibition on the planet applies sometimes! :)

So yes, USAFA cadets will get tested for recreational drug use just like the rest of the military. Their athletes will also be watched for and tested against performance enhancing drug use just like any other university athletic program.

While use of performance enhancing drugs is probably more common in the military than it is in the US public at large, I wouldn't extend that relationship to the academies vs civilian universities. Doesn't work quite that way, because of the unique nature of the academies.

And we're not quite the same either. Point is, these are tough games to prepare for. I'm glad it's the 1st game with plenty of time to prepare.

No, but if it continues going the way it has been, our overall should be comparable by then. GT is not even in the same stratosphere as those Nebraska teams and don't look to be getting close. I agree with you though, GT and teams that run this style of offense are best played first or last.

Better get my heart in shape for a visit to the Varsity. Cholesterol takes a beating there but ohhh.. The memories. Car full used to drive down to Grant field from Knoxville, eat at Varsity, drink on campus, go to game. Good times.

Chili steak, TWO orders of rings and an FO. Not as good as a turkey and smoked cheddar on long white, though :).

So that's what you're chalking those losses up to?

Then explain UT's struggles against Air Force a few years back.

Haha, I was mostly kidding, but I seriously doubt in 17 GT looks anything like those 90s Nebraska teams. I understand your point about the styles of offense though.

I don't feel the need to make excuses for, or explain away, the results of games UT won. :)

While they don't regularly test for it the military is constantly on watch for people who use them. They'll scope people out in the gym or supplement stores often, about the only military people that don't get busted are special forces. And with as much money as they have in those guys its understandable. Lol

I LOVE the triple option. I would run with Air Force when not playing with Tennessee on the EA NCAA series, and enjoy watching GA tech running it vs UGA and Miss ST last year.

Tough to see where these two programs will be in two years, but they both will have a lot of talent that will be upperclassmen at the start and always good to be in "Kickoff" game.

Stingtalk thought it was hilarious. A news outlet, ESPN, Yahoo, or someone called that "The Lowest of the Low". They thought that was funny.

A college football fan making a broad, sweeping generalization about a rival team's fan base? Never seen that one before.

As if human nature is supposed to vary from one fan base to another. Every fan base has good, neutral and bad fans. And no, one fan base doesn't happen to conveniently have many more "bad" fans just because they happen to be your rival.

I suggest you read Stingtalk.

With the offense that GT runs they could be one of the worst teams that season and still have a good shot at beating any team on the right night. To be honest I wish we could play someone else in the Dome. That style of offense is down right scary. Just ask the Mutts and the Noles. I'm really hoping that we can hold up in the trenches and have descent speed on the edges. I just don't like this matchup at all. You can practice and be preparing for this offense all yr and still get manhandled. Its like watching the Huskers in the 80s & 90s. There was a lot of games where the other teams were just way more talented but couldn't put a collar on that option offense. After watching GT play the last few seasons and carve up some pretty good defenses this is a nightmare matchup for us. The last time I can really remember us playing against this style of offense was against Air Force when Inky got hurt. And that game was touch and go for a long time. I know that we haven't done to good in the past in this type of game so I'm hoping like every other Vol fan that the past stays the past. Hopefully with the speed and big eaters that Butch is recruiting we can lock this game down on D. GO VOLS!

This isn't going to be a team that is sputtering in the twilight of a coach's career like Fulmer and Air Force. This will be a Tennessee team built to win multiple championships thru sheer speed and strength. I have zero fear of playing an ACC team with a gimmick offense. Cheer up guys. This will be a dismantling. Book it.

What exactly is "gimmicky" about their offense?
