Isn't the Sagarin the poll that routinely ranks the SEC as the worst BCS conference? I'm not sure what the difference is between the football and bball edition is, but I know the football poll is usually fairly ridiculous.

What it does for us (hopefully) is give us a foundation of playing tough teams in tough places and prepares us for what is to come.

They thought they were doing us a favor by putting us in this region. Because we don't have to travel far. They did us no favors.
Looking at the matchups they probably didn't want tennessee fans traveling that much at all. That is a murderer's row of good teams to get through.
I think we got a raw deal.

All I gotta say is stop complaing and win. We should have beaten Arkansas and that would have been enough.

The season starts on Friday. You can complain when Ramar and Howell cost us another game.

Exactly. We are seeded as the 8th over all seed.

I seem to remember we were #1 in the nation at one point this year at some random point.... is it just me?

What's the use of having #1 RPI and #1 SOS if you STILL get the snub by the committee in the end? Sheesh, we might as well pull a Kansas from here on out and play slouch teams and only play in conference, win the tourney, and all of a sudden, we'd be FLAWLESS.

Well, I for one hope that we have a weak schedule like Memphis next season. We can run the table and get a #1 seed.

even Hubert Davis, one of the more retarded of all the TV commentators, just said that this season showed his that weak schedules and loads of wins is far better.

Ask Coach Summit what playing a tough schedule does for you. It will have them ready for tournament play. Summit has proven that year after year. Sure, we're in a tough bracket, but we have played teams throughout the season that will prepare us for it.

It's pretty obvious that going out and playing games at Memphis, at Gonzaga and at Xavier don't mean a whole lot anymore compared to having one off night in a tournament. The NCAA has always been saying they are going to put more stock into conference tournaments, and this year they did, unfortunately. If you go by the seeding, UT was placed as the 8th best team in the country. Luckily, they weren't doing that, and going by geographic preference.

Nonetheless, waaaayyy too much stock into conf. tournaments and not nearly enough on an entire body of work.

Right, because KU was trying to duck competition by scheduling Arizona, Southern Cal, Georgia Tech, and Boston College. Just as UCLA was trying to duck competition by scheduling Maryland, Michigan State, and Texas, and UNC was trying to avoid the big boys by scheduling Tosu and Kentucky.

This argument is so incredibly trite. Prior to the season, Tennessee's OOC schedule looked tough, but not much tougher on paper than most top programs. Tennessee basically lucked out with the fact that the Western Kentuckys and Xaviers of the world played great while the Arizonas, Georgia Techs, and Boston Colleges had less then stellar seasons.

I do think UT is well prepared to be from such a weak conference. I thin UNC will suffer from the ACC being so pathetic.
