What is so damn frustrating is that in the first half, we were leading 21-14. We had our foot on the gas hard in the first half. And the second half? We come out, and get crushed 31-3? It felt like that while Vandy came out and played inspired football, it was like we didn't play with heart. I felt like that we were going through the motions. I not only hate losing to Vandy, but to lose this bad. But Diego and the 'Dores had a solid plan in the second half and shown they deserved the win. Am I happy they beat us and still have a shot at the playoffs? Hell no. But do they deserve to be in the playoffs, especially after tonight? Absolutely.

I don’t think we’ve ever had a coach go from hot to cold from one half to another like Heupel. It’s insane.

I am convinced that there was something internal. Did something happen in the locker room at half? I mean we came out like we were getting blown out and just didn’t care anymore. Pair that with Heupel’s weird demeanor in the presser, just seems like something happened.

OP, glad I’m not the only one who realizes this. Seems he only games for the first three offensive series then let’s the rest of the game go until halfway through the fourth. Then goes back into hurry up only if we are behind.

That does seem odd, definitely with his demeanor at the presser. Hopefully, we will find out something on that soon.

After four months of work, no playoffs, NIL and portal dealings fixing to occur, players have thrown in the towel.

You do have to wonder if there’s something to the offense being great when it’s scripted early on and then getting pedestrian as the game goes on. Smacks of a head coach needing to give up playcalling.

I get it but it’s weird that we came out and killed Florida last week (I know they aren’t good but still) and then laid down to our in state rivals in our own stadium. Not an ounce of pride.

I’m telling you it’s the hurry up and snap that kills our drives. The offensive line doesn’t have time to set their feet and we get stuffed in the back field. It’s successful pass play on first down, hurry up snap for a loss, 3rd and medium.

Or it could be that our opponents make halftime adjustments while our staff isn't capable of the same?
Maybe, but it isn’t always a great first half and an awful second half. We’ve had the exact opposite several times.

Seems like every year we have at least one quarter where we frequently stink. This year probably the 2nd. In 2022 it was 3rd. Not sure why.

You could be right. We might be better off being more methodical. Worth a shot because this year we didn’t do much against good competition other than Georgia.

Hate to say it, but I was having to watch the game via ESPN gamecast on my phone. When I saw us up 21-14 at the half I was like, “Now, all we gotta do is come out strong in the 2nd half.” And then I laughed nervously.
I felt terrible at half. It never appeared the defense had a clue what to do. instead of stopping something, Banks chose to stop nothing.

I think the fact we always seem to call a running play when we come out of a big gain and go tempo is more of the issue. Seems we have become quite predictable in that regard this season.

Didn't have an answer when they loaded 7 in the box and we refused to spy Pavia and insisted on rushing him.

Heupel has been groomed by Fulmer. Get a 7 point lead no matter what stage of the game and milk the clock. Yeah, that formula works every time.
It's the turtle up syndrome. Crazy how much he's changed. Heupel came to UT and it was guns a blazing...although mostly with Pruitt recruits. Then the league figures out his "system" and since then, he's been a disappointment. No juice to him and his team plays the same way. Just poorly coached, undisciplined and soft....and that's from other games this year. Suspect it was more of the same in this game.

I haven’t seen a halftime adjustment in years. Offense - well, that didn’t really work in the first half but let’s keep trying it.
Defense - they shredded us on these plays. Let’s hope they miss blocks in the second half on those
