"I Formation" ???? WHY Can't we run it anymore? Served us well for a long long time. The 3 best Teams in the SEC(AL,LSU,GA) still use it. That's the reason their the 3 best teams. Run first, play action, then pass. GREAT D and Special Teams.

I don't care about other team's offense because its not our "O" against their "O".

Y'know, people used to cry and cry for a spread style offense when Fulmer was coach. Now people want the I formation back.

Damned if we do....

We hired Butch Jones and he runs a different system.

When Fulmer was so predictable out of the I, people complained about it. Now everybody wants to see it.

Did you see where we had 278 yards rushing today?

Sorry Freak, we never had 278 yds rushing against Conf. USA out of the "I". My mistake. Never bashed the staff or players just wondering what happened to a proven system that the BEST Teams still use. Fulmer didn't invent the "I" and Saban damn sure didn't. Just because you hire a coach doesn't mean they can't go back to get forward.

Your post still doesn't make any sense, though. What exactly would the I-form do for us at this point? Get us 300 yards rushing? The problem is not the ground game and it's glaringly obvious.

I'm confused about how you use other team's offenses in your argument but say you don't care about other team's offenses...

We had plenty of I formation teams rush for 250+. I was just pointing out we ran the ball well today. You asked why we don't run it and I gave you my opinion. I guess my follow up question is if we run the ball well with this system, why would you want to change? Maybe I am not understanding your original post.

I'm not sure it's fair to say the best teams all run the I. Plenty of top tier programs are successful who don't run the I-formation. I'd be willing to bet there are fewer teams still running it than you might guess.

Because its a simple offense to run but a tough offense to stop. All posters claiming me to be without common sense need to learn football 101. Why did we succeed with it and now we're looking for other options ? And to the poster claiming me to be incoherent ... my point was just because they do it, doesn't mean we need to.
The spread option was '' invented" for teams with less talent to compete....

I never b!tched about Fulmer's offense ? Nor did I call for change in the system ? All I'm saying is why can TENNESSEE not be what we are ?

Absolutely.

I remember the streak we had going where we were unbeatable when we rushed for over 200 yards. I love watching a team that can run the football successfully. There's nothing like it IMO.
