What does the GOP have to do to win in 2016

If he wins the nomination and Hilly wins hers, only one would have voted for it.

I'm not defending Hillary - the big point of the article, to me, is that Rubio or Walker might be able to get the nomination based solely on the fact that the GOP base doesn't want to have Jeb out there defending the war.

Defending that mistake of a war is a big mistake by Jeb, imo.

All the analysis I've seen is that the reason that all but RP have said they supported it is $. A lot of big interests made a ton of money off of that war. They are not fans of second guessing it.

So you're admitting they're idiots for believing the intelligence, I agree.😜

The intelligence was in most cases manipulated, and in some cases made up. Gulf of Tonkineseque.

Because they were lied to (knowingly by Cheney, and unknowingly by his dimwit stooge, Bush).

So its a non issue then. If Jeb or any other R candidate says "I'd have supported the war with the intelligence we had" Hilly has no counter.

They are avoiding that very statement. I saw Cruz on tv last night and he was asked and said he was not a member of the Senate when the vote occurred so he did not see the intelligence they did. He stopped short of saying he would or would not have based on that, now.

Too clever by half.

The GOP is going to have a really hard time with this issue. The vast majority of Americans think it was a mistake, and even a substantial majority of Republicans do. Yet, it is the singular legacy of the last GOP administration.

Make no mistake ... that mistake is going to be a problem for the GOP candidate.

I love it when you make un-quantifiable numbers like "vast majority" that you simply cannot back up.

Her yes vote is part of Hilary's legacy more than any R candidate not in office.

When is she going to start answering questions?

Coming in the aftermath of 9/11, the Bush White House's case for war, particularly the argument about weapons of mass destruction, or WMDs, initially won widespread public and political support. In October 2002, the House of Representatives voted 296-133 and the Senate voted 77-23 to authorize the use of force against Iraq. A March 2003 Pew Research Center poll indicated that 72 percent of U.S. adults supported the decision to attack Iraq. But that opinion changed dramatically as the war dragged on. By February 2008, Pew had found that 58 percent believed it was the wrong decision.

10 years later, many see Iraq War as costly mistake

The left starts with 246 electoral college votes, which is 91% of the required amount to win.

Can a Republican Win 270 Electoral Votes in 2016...or Ever? - The Daily Beast

What has to happen for the GOP to win? I'm interested in everyone's thoughts, yes, even you LG.

Stop being so crazy with social and cultural issues. That's pretty much it. While the crazy sells well to conservative primary voters, it does not win national elections.

I would most likely vote Republican if they would stop with the crazy nonsense on social issues and stop trying to regulate everyone's bodies and opinions/practices.

So the people who voted for it have some splanning to do. What candidates fall into that category?

Here's the trick, though, so stay with me.

Hillary can simply say she was wrong to support the war.

Jeb keeps defending it for no reason.
