What do you want to see against UGA?

I think UGA is very overrated. Notre Dame didn't play well at all and UGA still had a very hard time. I think if we play our best game, we can squeak by with a close win.
All the dawg fans around here has said for 2 weeks that ND was overrated, and they'd blow them out. But now!, ND is a powerhouse, and has the top defense in the country. Funny how their story changed when they struggled to win it at home. I hate Georgia😄

1. Improvement at QB. I liked Mauer as he is more confident & decisive than JG, but he cannot lock onto WR and expect things to go well.
2. No turnovers by offense
3. Accountability for non performing players.

It doesn't take 5 minutes in this forum to see we've got some crazies, and I spend most of my time in the end zone, so that's saying a lot😄.

* I do love them all though😂

Here is where we differ, and sharply. I've been a resident of (stuck in) Georgia since 1993. Actually, now, longer than I lived in Tennessee, but East TN and the Smokies will always be "home".

I used to hate UGA. Even when we owned them. The "Hobnail Boot Game" only served to deepen that hate. Not as much as I despise UF...I'd pull for the University of Iran against UF...but I hated UGA nonetheless.

And then, along about the time UT decided to start looking for rock bottom, I found myself watching UGA football games. Richt, and then Smart. And what I saw was a team that played to win, even when they didn't. Run the ball; stop the run; test them deep; and win the turnover and kicking game. You know, stuff that the General talked about. From the years after the Kiffin experiment on, Georgia held to the General's Maxims much better than UT did.

So I became a UGA fan. But only 364 days out of the year. On that one Saturday every fall, I still pull for my Vols over UGA.

As for "fan arrogance", it can be found in Athens, Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, or Nashville. Years ago, you could find it in Knoxville. Down where I am, it's the jorts-wearing UF fans that make me want to puke. There was a time...and Lord willing will be again...when folks hated seeing those orange UT flags flying on the interstate all over the southeast. All a matter of perspective.

UGA won a dogfight over a solid ND team. Brian Kelly has built a good team in South Bend, and they gave UGA all they could handle. But UGA found a way to win.

When we can't beat Georgia State at home, hard for me to scoff at what UGA did.

Go Vols.

I can understand that. I'm just too close to Athens 😂

Can't stand either program, but it was a great game to watch. Two very talented and well coached teams trading blows. A lot of "want to" on both sides. Both teams left it all on the field. Refreshing to see.

The biggest take away for me was seeing just how far we are from being at that level again. UGA has a ridiculous amount of talent. Didn't happen overnight, but they seem poised to take bama on and beat them. With a roster like that and the insane success they're enjoying in recruiting, I'll be surprised if they don't nab at least one national championship.

i told my buddy watching that game how you used to see Tennessee play with that "want it" attitude. Sadly, it's not been around in forever.

In really looking for the Georgia bus to have a mechanical issue, or get lost on the way to the stadium.
I'm hatching a scheme: bus driver uniform, rohypnol, and a trip to Athens, GA Thursday night. You in?

I heard some of that, and I'm always wary when our fan base has that attitude. I've seen the same thing from VOl fans over the years. But ND IS a powerhouse and is a very well-coached team. Kelly is going to have a good tenure there. The guy's forgotten more CFB than most coaches will ever learn.

I think ND will at least be in the playoff discussion at the end of the season.

I agree. ND is usually overrated, but they've got a good team right now, and probably won't lose another in regular season, maybe.

So, not what we will see and not arguing with each other about firing/not firing. Also, not blaming this coach or this player for past games, just what are REALISTIC steps for this team from this past game to next game?

For me, I’d like to see a new quarterback in the game that has gotten starter’s reps in practice. I’d like to see an offensive game plan that is schemed to get some easy throws. I’d like the offense to appear to have a cohesive plan. On defense, I’d like to see better effort and execution from the secondary. Our head coach and DC both have a DB background, so I’d like to see some attention paid to that area. UGA can’t have guys running around as wide open as I felt the UF receivers were.

I fully expect the game to not be close, but some of these positive steps would be nice. I also want to see some aggressive playcalling in terms of going for 4th and short and sending the blitz on D. Show the players you believe they can get the job done and for them to have some fun out there.
I'd like to see us blow them out.

When we see teams play like UGA and ND did Saturday, it's like a cold slap in the face. We see clearly how far we have to go. We also see more clearly our true level of talent and play. Sobering.

Depending on weather, I'll either be seeing a lake and the front deck of a bass boat or be working on getting the inside of a house ready to sell. My time is the only thing I own and control, and thus it is precious to me. I won't be spending much of it watching UT football until something changes.

I have enough self respect to not continue doing things which make me miserable unless there's enough money in it to offset the misery.

I have no interest in watching the same thing I saw against Florida. If they start Shrout or Maurer, I'd watch that for sure...

Well, IMO, one or the other will end up starting because JG will end up hurt badly if he keeps holding on to that football like he does through the UGA, Miss St, Bama stretch.
