What do you think about the new hires around the SEC? Better or worse?

All of the new hires are young and motivated offense guys with bigger recruiting & NIL budgets...Will be interesting the next few years..nobody's job is safe anymore not even Kirby & I think he's going to the NFL pretty soon

- Alex Golesch hardly has any HC experience compared to Hugh Freeze

- Will Stein hasn't been a HC while Stoops has built Kentucky for many years

- Ryan Silverfield, might be an upgrade from Sam Pittman.... although Ryan didn't do anything at Memphis besides suck.

- Ole Miss, Not sure why they made Goulding the permanent HC. I get rallying the troops and all but not sure if he's head coach material beyond what's left of this season, Ole Miss defense not that good.

I think the only team that really upgraded was of course LSU, but even then Lane hasn't won anything of significance.

While many people want Heupel gone, to me, this is looking more like a league where he can take over?

At least as some Vol fans around here know: . Replacing a disappointing coach is guaranteed to make you undefeated National Champion almost immediately. (If not, fire THEM and lather, rinse, repeat)

I would put $ on Golesh doing well. He had SF a tough team to play and he has been the best play caller so far in Heuple's career at TN.
I will caution this that Auburn is a tough place for a HC. Lots of backside meddling by donors etc.

My money is not on Alex Golesh to do well at Auburn but not because he's not a good coach.

Auburn will Auburn. They'll perhaps go hard with NIL and support for a year or two but they aren't committed enough, historically, to be in it for the long haul.

It's a great career move for Golesh because I believe he's got the potential to be a solid P4 coach but Auburn is a step, not a destination, for a good coach.

To me it’s more of a cautionary tale of being very careful about getting rid of/running off a relatively successful coach. All of those schools needed new coaches but the result is a fairly shallow pool to pick from. They darn sure aren’t proven at the SEC level as head coaches. One or two might end up OK but you don’t survive long in this league by being just OK. Outside of Snake Kiffin, the established coaches aren’t moving as much.

The one that interests me is Arkansas. Not sure what they were thinking. The Memphis fans are throwing parties about getting rid of Silverfield. And just because one is successful at Memphis means nothing in the big leagues. See Fuentes and Norvell who have basically flopped and the ACC isn’t the SEC.

Yes, & the 9-game SEC schedule next season will be a baptism of fire for everyone...especially the newbie coaches.

I'm afraid your right. Those that can't control their emotions will rant bc of the worst records etc etc. But playing more SECs will mean more attrition instead of a cupcake. It'll honestly make the sport better. Just not out records.
